I braced myself for impact as he pulled the trigger but I never felt it, but the loud thud of the body that dropped right in front of me hurt me more than numerous gunshots ever could.

"Mum" I whispered in fear, placing her limp body on my lap, my hands shook as my heart thumped loudly against my ribcage.

"I love you, my child, I always have" She murmured
