C51 Ungrateful!

Lu Yu had been wielding the True Origin Flame tirelessly, but he was now running on fumes.

"Bang!"

Meng Zhuyun's palm strike sent Lu Yu flying several meters, blood spilling from his mouth in a steady stream.

While tending to Meng Zhuyun's injuries, the dragon-pulse had swiftly faded away.

The dragon vein governed the destiny of all earthly beings. Using the dragon-pulse again could spell disaster, a risk Lu Yu was unwilling to take.

At this moment, Lu Yu was relying solely on his innate cultivation level to withstand Meng Zhuyun's powerful palm.

"It's true what they say, you can't judge a book by its cover. A mere mortal like you dares to lay your filthy hands on me!"

Meng Zhuyun swiftly retrieved a cloak from her storage bag and draped it over herself, her voice icy.

Cough! Cough! Cough!

Lu Yu coughed violently, expelling blood with each heave. His Nine Dragons Tyrant Body Technique was working overtime, absorbing the energy from Meng Zhuyun's attack.

But the gap between their realms was vast.

He had only managed to defeat the cardioverter by borrowing power from the dragon-pulse.

"To think my palm didn't finish you off. You're a blight that's lingered for millennia!"

Meng Zhuyun's gaze upon Lu Yu was frigid, as if a celestial being were looking down on an insignificant mortal.

Without warning, she unleashed another palm strike.

Already gravely injured, Lu Yu took the hit and skidded dozens of meters, stopping just short of a bottomless abyss.

Meng Zhuyun's palm was imbued with extraordinary force, nearly sending Lu Yu over the cliff's edge.

Yet, Lu Yu's eyes remained fixed on Meng Zhuyun, sending a shiver down her spine.

What was this look in his eyes? He was just a mortal, yet his stare unnerved her as if she were prey under the watchful eye of a wild wolf.

It was utterly chilling.

"Meng Zhuyun, I rid your body of the seductive poison to save your life. Is this how you repay my kindness?"

Blood trickled from the corner of Lu Yu's mouth, but he stood firm.

Was it he who had dispelled her charm?

Meng Zhuyun swept her surroundings with her Spiritual Sense and confirmed that the seductive charm that once lingered had vanished without a trace.

Could it be him?

No, he's just a mortal boy with a knack for formations.

It was a fluke that he used the dragon-pulse's power to slay the cardioverter. How could he possibly cleanse the poison from his soul?

The poison in her must have been scattered by the pure Qi within her!

Meng Zhuyun's slender form beneath her cloak felt a coolness on her back, a result of Lu Yu slicing through her white garment.

A flicker of shame and fury crossed Meng Zhuyun's face.

She was the esteemed daughter of the Profound Zhou Academy, raised in opulence and revered by countless.

She was born to be a star, fated for fame and to command awe across the universe.

And Lu Yu? What was he in comparison?

"A mere mortal dares to expel poison?"

With a surge of anger, Meng Zhuyun lashed out with another palm strike.

Lu Yu coughed up blood and plummeted into the abyss.

Meng Zhuyun was intent on pursuing him, but the acrid stench of blood wafting up from the abyss caused her to wrinkle her nose in disgust.

Below lay the corpses of those slain by the cardioverter.

Her noble birth made the blood's stench nearly unbearable.

"After enduring three of my palm strikes, without the dragon-pulse, your death is certain!" Meng Zhuyun declared, turning to leave.

Stepping out of the cave, she ignited a talisman. Moments later, as an incense stick would burn down, several figures in white robes appeared, breaking through the air to land before her.

"Eldest Miss!"

The cultivators greeted her with deference, all disciples of the Profound Zhou Academy.

With a composed demeanor, Meng Zhuyun instructed, "The cardioverter is dead. Xun Mo, level this mountain."

The white-robed cultivators, noting Meng Zhuyun's depleted Spiritual Energy, realized she had just emerged from a fierce battle.

Without further words, a striking male cultivator stepped forward and launched a punch at the mountain from afar.

A thunderous boom echoed as the mountain crumbled into rubble under the might of his strike.

"Miss Meng, the Ancestor has perished. Shall we head back to the Middle Land?" the male cultivator suggested, turning to face her.

Meng Zhuyun's eyebrows arched as she replied with an icy tone, "Proceed."

Sword lights flickered briefly as the group mounted their flying swords and departed.

The events that transpired here were shrouded in secrecy.

Upon her return, Meng Zhuyun reclaimed her status as the distinguished eldest miss of the Profound Zhou Academy, her brilliance undimmed.

As for the opportunist who preyed on the vulnerable, his death was inconsequential. He would cast no shadow, no ripple, in the river of Meng Zhuyun's life.
