C6 Who Are You Man?
Gu Zhuohua noticed the jealousy in Shen Yao's eyes, but having only recently arrived, she wasn't in a rush to deal with certain people. She glanced around, her gaze finally settling on a carriage not far away in the crowd.
Snapping back to reality, she fixed her eyes on the man on the platform. "Once today's matters are settled, I ask that you, Duke Lin, remember your words. Since you don't acknowledge this child, then whether he lives or dies, is rich or poor, it will have nothing to do with the Duke Lin Mansion or you, Rong Lin."
Regardless of whose child it was, Gu Zhuohua had no intention of getting rid of him. In her previous life, she had never had a family, living a life constantly on the edge. Reborn, even though it had only been less than an hour, she was determined to keep him. It felt like fate had decided she was meant to be this child's mother.
Rong Lin looked at Gu Zhuohua with confusion, not understanding why she suddenly changed her mind. A refusal was on the tip of his tongue, but he swallowed it back.
A woman like Gu Zhuohua was not fit to enter Duke Lin Mansion!
He stood there, not sparing a glance at the woman below. "I keep my word."
"Good, Duke Lin. Your promise is witnessed by everyone here today," she said, turning her slender figure and walking with Xiaoxi toward the edge of the crowd. People parted to make way for them.
Gu Zhuohua had only taken a few steps when her vision darkened, and she nearly collapsed. Xiaoxi quickly caught her, panic on her face. "Miss, what's wrong?"
Having fallen from the platform earlier, even Gu Zhuohua's strong constitution couldn't withstand the strain of a pregnant body. She was dizzy, and even breathing felt oppressively difficult.
"If Miss Gu doesn't mind, my carriage can give you a ride," a deep voice, carrying an air of authority, resonated through the crowd.
As soon as the voice faded, Rong Lin, standing on the platform, visibly changed his expression, showing signs of apprehension and jealousy.
Gu Zhuohua squinted slightly in the direction of the voice, looking toward the carriage. The simple carriage door was already open, with the driver and a servant standing respectfully beside it.
Xiaoxi glanced at Gu Zhuohua for confirmation. Seeing her nod, she helped her forward. "Thank you, sir," Xiaoxi politely expressed her gratitude to the person in the carriage. At this moment, Gu Zhuohua could only lean weakly on Xiaoxi's shoulder, her body limp and exhausted.
Despite the biting winter weather, a thin layer of sweat had formed on her smooth forehead, and her temples were damp.
Dressed plainly, Yun Li took a small stool from the carriage and assisted Xiaoxi in helping Gu Zhuohua settle inside, leaning against the carriage wall. Xiaoxi sat beside her, tending to her needs. She wanted to look up and personally thank the kind gentleman opposite, but every time she attempted to raise her head, a strong pressure emanated from him, forcing her to focus solely on caring for her mistress.
Outside the carriage, Yun Li and the driver climbed onto the front, navigating through the crowd as they made their way.
Watching the carriage disappear into the distance, Shen Yao's delicate fingers clenched tightly, her long nails piercing her palm without her noticing.
Rong Lin gently grasped her slender shoulder, murmuring, "Yao, don't be upset. The grievances you suffered today, I will make sure to settle for you in the future." As he spoke, his gaze pierced through the crowd, fixating on the carriage that had already vanished, a fierce determination in his eyes.
Shen Yao snapped back to reality and turned to Rong Lin with a gentle smile. "I trust you completely."
