"Come here!"

"What's wrong?" When Ning Silian saw his frown, she assumed it was because of the pain from his wound. She hurried forward to check it out.

Unexpectedly, Ji Ruchang was caught off guard and pulled her into his embrace with a dark expression.

Ning Silian, who was shackled in his arms, was stunned for a moment before she struggled to get up. Although she was not 14 years old yet, she was already close to 30. She was afraid that she wouldn't be able to control herself with this stalk of grass.

"What are you doing? Let go of me!" Ning Silian struggled in his embrace, trying to get up.

Helplessly, no matter how she struggled, Ji Ruchang's iron-like arms refused to let go as he looked at her playfully.

Ning Silian started to struggle more and more when she saw the look in his eyes.

The man's hoarse voice suddenly came from above: "Don't move!"

Ji Ruchang let go, and Ning Silian immediately stood up to leave him.

"Ah!" Seemingly being seen through by his eyes, Ning Silian immediately covered her face.

Ji Ruchang laughed as he picked up the medicine bottle beside her and gently rubbed it on her forehead.

Ning Silian felt a chill on her forehead and was slightly surprised. So she was only applying medicine on him.

Seeing her in a daze, Ji Ruchang wiped the medicine for her and asked softly, "How did you get this wound?"

How did he do it? After she woke up, she had it. How could she know that? She looked around and was about to get up.

"Was it at the Village Chief's place?" Seeing that she wasn't willing to tell him, Ji Ruchang guessed.

Ning Silian's body shuddered. "It's getting late, I'll go get some food!" He quickly escaped from the scene.

Seeing that she didn't answer his question, Ji Ruchang was even more sure that she wasn't someone who could do that kind of thing.

"In the future, if you ever go to the Village Head's house again, I will accompany you!"

"Why?" Ning Silian's heart trembled violently.

"Because I don't want to see you hurt again!"

Ning Silian turned around and looked at Ji Ruchang, who was leaning on the bed, in disbelief. She said seriously, "You don't have to do this!" In the end, he still had to leave, so she didn't want to be tied down by him too much.

"Just treat it as me repaying you for saving my life!" Ji Ruchang smiled slightly.

The sunlight shone in from the window and half hit him, causing his face to darken. Ning Silian pursed her lips. This kind of person wasn't someone she should have.

Without a word, Ning Silian left the room and headed for the kitchen.

Ji Ruchang looked at her leaving figure and rubbed his chin. It seemed that this girl didn't believe his words.

Looking at the jade pendant in his hand, Ji Ruchang's expression was cold. It seemed that that person had finally made his move. This assassination attempt must have been planned long ago. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been killed on his way back to the capital.
