C14 I felt broken and lost

“This is all that I can offer,” he said. “This is the reality. This is who I am. It’s not about you. You can’t change me.”

“You’re not even trying,” I said.

“I am,” he said. “That’s all that I can do.”

I looked into his eyes, wishing more than anything that he would understand.
