The car hummed softly as Lucas drove, his hands firm on the wheel. Sabrina sat beside me, seeming nervous.

“Elara,” Lucas began, his voice steady but serious, “when we get to the ball, stay close to me or Sabrina. Understand?”

I nodded. “Why? What’s the big deal?”

Sabrina sighed. “Because Lycans are dangerous, especially towards werewolves. They see you as weaker, lesser
