C8 CHAPTER 8: A NEW CHAPTER

Juanita spent the remaining days before she moved out, planting her rice, harvesting it, and getting rid of the things she didn’t need. She also applied for an online store on Baobab and this process was going to take a week.

Only her details were needed so she didn’t need to worry about anything or register an address. This online store was good especially for people with no physical registered places for a selling point.

It wasn’t as complicated as when one was opening the company and the capital needed wasn’t much as well. So, while she waited, Juanita cleaned up her whole house and sold a few appliances she didn’t need.

On the last day of the month, she handed the keys to the landlord and walked out of the apartment she had been living in for over a year with just a suitcase of clothes.

“Where did she put her things?” the man asked curiously as he watched the tenant, he hated the most left.

He knew that his hatred was unreasonable as the girl had never done anything to him at all. It was just that her scars scared a lot of people and they were always complaining to him.

Because of this ugly tenant, he had lost many tenants, and getting rid of her was a huge relief to him. He walked into the apartment and couldn’t help but nod his head in satisfaction.

The apartment was well maintained and he had no complaints about it.

“I hope that everything is well with her,” the man sighed with guilty laced in his voice.

Juanita took a taxi and went to the bus station where she bought a bus ticket. She was lucky enough as her bus was going to leave in one hour. She bought some fresh chips and juice, went to the restroom and went into the bus, and sat in her designated seat.

As she sat there, the passenger next to her sitting on the seat on the aisle side, also arrived and it was a man in his thirties. She smiled politely at the man and looked at her phone.

She didn’t want to converse a lot with him, just in case, he thinks she is sending him the wrong vibes. The man didn’t even bother her at all, for him, he felt unlucky seated with such an ugly person.

It would have been better if she was a beauty, this way he can have a talk with her, woo her and maybe have a future together but this person by his side, he just wanted to run away.

Juanita completely ignored the man on her side and chatted with Irene her friend.

[I hope that everything is okay for you. Don’t stay in the town for too long, you should come to where I am. I can find something for you.]

Juanita chuckled seeing how worried her friend was, she was always like that and Juanita was grateful for everything. In the beginning, when Irene married her boyfriend from university, she wanted Juanita to go with them, but she refused as she didn’t want to go and live far in an unknown place.

But now it wouldn’t be a bad idea as changing places can make her explore and see more of the world. In big cities, there are tycoons and if she sells her goodies to them, she will get rich.

When she is rich, she would go and get that surgery. Her surgery required around one million dollars including the aftercare and after six years, Juanita had saved around one hundred and thirty thousand dollars, which was far from being enough for the required amount.

It didn’t matter if it takes ten more years for the money to be enough, as long as she has that hope that it was going to be okay, she was at ease. She had seen the ridiculous amount some things were being sold online and Juanita was confident enough that she was going to make it and all she needed was patience.

The journey was for four hours and luckily the man who sat next to her from the city got out after two and half hours and now she was sitting next to a woman in her middle age but she was also not friendly.

Juanita didn’t bother with her and just slept all the way and avoided talking with the other. In the future, she was going to buy a car and drive it as it was better and easier than taking public transport.

After four long hours, Juanita stretched her tired body, happy that she was home finally. It was almost lunch so she didn’t need to go home but head straight to where her parents’ food stall was.

She was nervous as she had not told her parents that she was coming over to see them. She also decided not to tell them that she moved out as this will make them worried.

She was also not going to stay with them for long as they would suspect that something was wrong and she didn’t want to worry them. So, this prompted her to go to Irene and see how she can live a new life there.

Juanita took a taxi and gave the driver her parents' location; the drive wasn’t long as it took ten minutes to reach there. Looking at the busy food stall, she felt tears welling in her eyes.

Seeing her parents working so hard at their old age, Juanita felt as if she was unfilial. They refused to let her pay off the debt as they knew that she was saving for the surgery but Juanita didn’t want to see them suffering like that, which is why as soon as her money was a lot, she was going to pay off the debt.

After all the debt was around thirty thousand dollars and she could afford it and let them work less. She paid for the taxi fare and climbed out of the taxi while holding her bags.

She walked quickly towards her parents as she couldn’t wait to be in their warm embrace. As if they were connected telepathically, her mother Pearle raised her head and locked her gaze with her.

The old woman couldn’t believe what she was seeing, so she poked her husband and asked, “husband, is that our daughter?”

Randall who heard the question couldn’t help but look towards the direction his wife was pointing at and was shocked by the revelation, “our daughter is back dear. Go quickly and welcome her, I will deal with the customers!”
