C18 Is There Someone Deliberately Pushing You?

Talking with someone who's candid is so stress-free; Yeh Xirann found herself relaxing with ease.

"Since the great Zhou, the star, has mentioned it... maybe you could also clue in a new friend on how to win over your manager?" Yeh Xirann teased, batting her eyelashes.

Her face had slimmed down, making her eyes appear larger. They sparkled with vitality, framed by long, dark lashes that lent her an alluring, bewitching charm, captivating and impossible to resist.

"Miss, your voice is lovely, and your eyes are stunning," Zhou Jinheng boasted, thumping his chest. "Why not join the entertainment industry? I could show you the ropes."

Yeh Xirann rolled her eyes, unable to tolerate it any longer. "I'd rather not rely on my looks to make my way in the world."

Seeing that she had fully regained her composure, Zhou Jinheng summoned his manager and gave him detailed instructions before entrusting Yeh Xirann to his care.

Her plans had fallen through, and she had been thoroughly humiliated by Mu Yanchen. Even her backup strategies had been thwarted...

Despite her efforts to maintain a facade of tranquility over the past few days, waves of sorrow still surged within her as she sat alone in the taxi.

She was consumed with regret... cursing her past naivety for tangling with a heartless madman...

As the taxi neared her neighborhood entrance, her phone buzzed in her backpack.

Seeing her brother Yeh Xizhe's name flashing on the screen, Yeh Xirann inhaled deeply, striving for emotional steadiness as she answered.

The voice on the line wasn't her brother's, but a nurse's, following the hospital's protocol for contacting next of kin.

Still not fully recovered from the shock, Yeh Xirann was bewildered. In a panic, she urged the driver to turn back toward the hospital.

Yeh Xizhe wasn't adept at business but had a passion for painting. Once she had recovered, she encouraged him to focus on his art while she took on the responsibilities of home and finances.

He had left early that day, eager to capture the snowy mountain scenery with friends. She had even made sure he wore the warmest down jacket they had...

Arriving at the hospital in a flurry, Yeh Xirann burst through the emergency room doors, only to find Yeh Xizhe sitting up in bed, sipping water.

The scratches on her face had been treated, and her arm was in a sling, giving her a slightly disheveled appearance.

"Brother..." Yeh Xirann rushed to Yeh Xizhe's side, her eyes brimming with tears as she looked at him.

"Don't cry, I'm okay! The paths in the mountains are treacherous, and I just slipped and took a tumble. It's nothing serious. My arm isn't broken, just dislocated. It'll heal in a few days."

Yeh Xizhe quickly reassured her, noticing the worry etched on her face.

"How did you fall? Was it someone who pushed you on purpose?"

She had left home and ended up in the hospital within a few hours! Yeh Xirann was the first to doubt it was merely an accident.

"It wasn't a push... A friend who was with me got a phone call and accidentally bumped into me. I was standing in a precarious spot and just..." Yeh Xizhe said, scratching his head in embarrassment.

A cold glint flashed in Yeh Xirann's eyes.

Just as she suspected! She knew Mu Yanchen wouldn't stop at mere words; he'd definitely take some action to send her a warning...

She hadn't expected him to act so swiftly!

"Rann, please don't be upset. I'm truly fine!" Yeh Xizhe, unaware of his sister's thoughts, mistook her grim expression for anger.

"...I'm not angry, I'm just upset for you!" Yeh Xirann sighed deeply, gently touching his arm. "Does it hurt a lot? Maybe this will be a good reminder to be more careful in the future."

Yeh Xizhe offered an awkward smile.

As her brother, he felt it was wrong to have his sister so concerned about him.

Yeh Xizhe's injuries weren't severe, and there was no need for an extended hospital stay. Yeh Xirann told him to wait in the ward while she went to take care of the paperwork.

As the elevator doors opened, Yeh Xirann looked up to see Mu Yanchen, exuding an aura of icy determination.
