C19 I Am Mentally Prepared!

Encountering Mu Yanchen at the hospital wasn't surprising since Mu Wenxuan had been admitted to the VIP ward for observation ever since that day. Yet, his presence in the more public ward areas certainly merited a second thought.

Upon seeing Yeh Xirann, Mu Yanchen gave her a brief glance. His face remained impassive, as if she were nothing more than a stranger brushing past him. Kuan Yue, however, watched her with a look of astonishment.

He had assumed she'd gone home. What was she doing at the hospital? Had she been injured when she was pinned to the ground earlier?

In Mu Yanchen's presence, Kuan Yue didn't dare to ask outright, instead sending her a look of concern.

"Mu Yanchen," Yeh Xirann called out just as she stepped into the elevator.

Mu Yanchen hesitated, then turned, his brow furrowed in anticipation of what she might say next.

Yeh Xirann, now facing him, locked eyes with him calmly. As the elevator doors began to close, she spoke, "Since you're determined to take things this far, please ensure Mu Wenxuan's safety. Giving birth is like walking through the gates of death, after all. I wish her luck."

At her words, Mu Yanchen's expression shifted dramatically, but it was too late to stop the closing elevator doors.

Kuan Yue, taken aback by Yeh Xirann's bold statement, had neglected to press the call button for the other elevator.

"Kuan Yue, find out what happened to Yeh Xizhe and report back to me in five minutes," Mu Yanchen commanded, his face clouded with anger.

He didn't feel the need to justify himself to someone as foolish as Yeh Xirann, but today's accusations were utterly baseless. He had just managed to cool down after their confrontation on set, and now, here at the hospital, she had reignited the flames with her incendiary words.

Inside the elevator, Yeh Xirann finally pressed the button to close the doors. As she arrived at different floors, with people entering and exiting, she seemed utterly unaffected by the commotion around her.

It wasn't until the elevator reached the ground floor that she snapped back to reality and stepped out just before the doors closed again.

The thought of threatening Mu Yanchen had once been inconceivable to her. But now, she truly feared nothing.

If she couldn't protect her only kin, she thought she might as well be dead, sparing the world some food and oxygen.

...

With no maids at home and Yeh Xizhe nursing an injured arm, Yeh Xirann prepared an array of long-lasting meals upon her return, storing them in freezer-safe containers.

She then listed all the vegetables and fruits in the fridge on a piece of paper and stuck it to the refrigerator door.

Having confronted Mu Yanchen, she knew he would regain his composure and come looking for her...

Regardless, she prioritized her brother's daily routine. As for herself... it no longer mattered.

Once her belongings were in order, Yeh Xirann sat serenely on the sofa, awaiting the inevitable knock on the door.

Instead of the anticipated commotion, a text message arrived.

Kuan Yue, considerate not to wake Yeh Xizhe, had opted to message her to open the door.

Yeh Xizhe had indeed retired to bed, quickly drifting off to sleep.

Yeh Xirann opened the door, not inviting Kuan Yue inside, but instead, she stepped out, fully dressed and ready.

"Let's go. I'm aware he'll find a way to retaliate. It's not the first time, and I'm prepared," she said.

Kuan Yue exhaled a weary sigh and led the way to the elevator.

She was aware that Mu Yanchen's anger would lead to severe consequences for her, yet she proceeded with her actions... all to safeguard Yeh Xizhe, casting aside all other concerns.

Kuan Yue drove as Yeh Xirann sat in the backseat, gazing at the dwindling lights outside, enveloped in a deep silence.

They were en route to Qin Mountain Villa.

The place was named "Home," yet for her, it was synonymous with solitude, sorrow, and suffering, devoid of any familial warmth.

To put it precisely, the so-called cage was something Mu Yanchen purchased for her following their marriage. It served to cut her off from her family and friends, relegating her, the legitimate wife, to a life that more closely resembled that of a mistress.
