C1 The Abandoned Daughter of a Rich Family(1)
"Beep... Initializing... Data verified..."
Lingling felt like her head was about to explode. She was sure she had died, so why was she hearing voices?
"Beep... Would you like to bind with the Rescue the Supporting Character System?"
"Stop it! Be quiet!" Lingling shouted.
"Beep... Detected the word 'yes.' Binding in progress..."
"Who are you? I said no..." Lingling began to protest, but as she opened her eyes, she saw several people looking at her with disdain.
"What are you staring at? Never seen a beautiful woman before?" Lingling's expression turned cold. Just as she was about to lose her temper, memories of this body's past flooded her mind.
Before she could lament the original owner's tragic fate, a teacup came flying at her head.
Lingling tilted her head, and the cup hit the ground with a loud crash, shattering into pieces.
"Lingling, haven't you embarrassed us enough?" Yuan Lin regretted bringing this daughter back into the family. She was nothing but a disgrace.
It was all because they hadn't been careful enough during the paternity test, and the reporters found out.
"Dad, don't be upset. My sister just got back and doesn't know any better. I'll teach her proper manners from now on," Yiyi said gently.
Yuan Yiyi had the classic look of a Southern belle, with long black hair, an oval face, fair skin, and a gentle demeanor. She wore a white dress, exuding an air of elegance and propriety.
Though not stunningly beautiful, her grace and poise made her seem like the perfect lady from a well-bred family.
Yuan Lin was unconvinced. "Yiyi, you don't have to speak up for her. If she were half as sensible as you, I wouldn't worry so much."
Su Mei, their mother, sat silently wiping her tears.
Lingling sneered, "Yeah, if I'd had half the money my sister did growing up, I bet I'd be pretty sensible too."
A flicker of surprise crossed Yiyi's eyes. Lingling had always been so meek; when did she learn to talk back?
Yiyi quickly composed herself, tears welling up in her eyes. "Sis, if you talk like that, it’ll break Mom and Dad’s hearts. I’ll give you all my allowance from now on, just don’t..."
"Yiyi, what are you saying? Do you really think the family would ever short you on your allowance?" Su Mei, always partial to her daughter, interjected.
Lingling smirked. "Oh, right, the adopted daughter won’t miss out on anything, but the real daughter sure will."
Su Mei’s expression faltered. She felt a twinge of guilt towards her biological daughter, but it was overshadowed by resentment. Why did she have to end up with such an ignorant child?
As Su Mei dwelled on it, her sense of injustice grew, and she began to tear up again. Yiyi comforted her while Yuan Lin, fuming, started his usual act of slamming down teacups.
Yuan Lin and Su Mei rarely interacted with Lingling, assuming her change in behavior was just another attempt to cause trouble.
Lingling shook her head, her tone resigned. "Alright, alright, I don’t have time for this family drama. Just give me my allowance for the past few months, and I’ll be out of your hair."
Yuan Lin was even more infuriated. "You still want money? After ruining the Mo family’s birthday party, you’ve got some nerve!"
"Looks like the family’s really struggling if they can’t even spare their own daughter’s allowance. Should I start a crowdfunding campaign online? Maybe those rich kids would throw some cash my way?"
"You... I’ll have the butler bring you a card. Just go upstairs!" Yuan Lin couldn’t bear the embarrassment and had to relent.
"No rush, I can wait. Go get it now." Lingling plopped down on the couch, grabbed an apple from the coffee table, and took a big bite.
Yuan Lin stormed off to the study, returning with a card which he tossed to Lingling. "There’s half a million on it, no password. Take the money and get upstairs!"
Lingling tossed the apple core into the trash can, dusted off her hands, picked up the card from the coffee table, and stood up with a calm demeanor. "Are you trying to brush me off with this? Even your precious foster daughter's clothes cost more than this."
