"Hey, sis, what a coincidence! Are you here to eat too?" Yiyi suppressed her jealousy, trying to sound friendly.

"Miss Yuan, I wouldn't dare call myself your sister. Isn't there only one adopted daughter in the Yuan family? Where would a sister come from?"

"If it weren't for you, Mom and Dad wouldn't have cut ties with you. Just go back and apologize to them, and they'll forgive you."

Yuan Yiyi suddenly didn't dare to cry, though she felt the tears welling up, stuck in her eyes. Panic flashed through her mind—how did people find out about the school incident?

Lin Chen, seeing Yiyi on the verge of tears, looked at her with concern. "Yiyi, I believe you." He then turned to Lingling and said, "Miss, please be kind to Yiyi, or don't blame me for being harsh."

Mooh Bai wanted to speak up, but Lingling held him back. Lin Chen sneered, thinking Mooh Bai was just a pretty face. "Miss, your taste isn't great, is it?"

Lin Chen's expression changed immediately as he turned to Yiyi. "Yiyi, is that true?"

Yiyi felt a moment of panic but quickly put on a hurt expression. "Chen, don't you trust me?"

"Yiyi, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have questioned you." Lin Chen regretted it instantly. Yiyi was his ideal woman; how could he doubt her?

Yiyi didn't dare stay any longer, fearing Lingling might reveal more. "Chen, I'm hungry. I don't want Western food anymore. Let's go somewhere else."

"Sure, whatever you want."

Lin Chen gave Lingling a complicated look before leaving with Yiyi. Mooh Bai let out a sarcastic laugh. "People actually fall for such poor acting?"

Lingling patted his shoulder. "Oh, plenty do. You're still young, little brother."

"Why didn't you let me speak earlier?"

"Silly brother, if you had spoken, he'd hold a grudge against you. Don't worry, I've got this."

Mooh Bai wanted to say he didn't need protection, that he wanted to protect her. But if he said that, would she stop being so good to him?

Lingling watched Lin Chen leave and smiled. Lin Chen seemed like a gentleman, but he was actually suspicious and impulsive. He would definitely investigate the card issue.
