C16 The Abandoned Daughter of a Rich Family(16)

Yuan Lingling and Mooh Bai tied for first place in the science category, and Yuan Lingling was puzzled. How could they have the exact same score?

Both declined interviews and quietly accepted early admission to Q University, then focused on developing a game. However, once the results were out, major newspapers covered the story extensively, making sure everyone remembered the names of these top students.

Yuan Lingling was frustrated: "If I had known, I wouldn't have scored so high. Being at the top is such a hassle."

Mooh Bai chuckled affectionately: "Sis, some people would love to be famous, and here you are complaining."

"It's all your fault for not scoring a couple more points."

"Alright, alright, my bad. I'll make your favorite spicy dish for lunch."

"That's more like it. Go get the groceries, and don't forget extra chili peppers. I'm going to take a nap now. Be good."

After Mooh Bai left, Yuan Lingling lay in bed, thinking how wonderful this carefree life was.

"Host, tomorrow is the antagonist's birthday. Remember to prepare a gift."

"Mooh Bai is the antagonist?"

"Yes, anyone opposing the main character is considered the antagonist."

"Okay, Hanhan, what should I get him? I have no idea what young guys like these days."

"Host, that's beyond my knowledge. I need to look it up."

Yuan Lingling thought the system was an all-knowing encyclopedia, but it seemed she overestimated it.

"Host, please stop those inaccurate thoughts. I can hear them!"

Yuan Lingling smiled helplessly: "So, wise Hanhan, did you find anything?"

"Ahem, the host could consider a sports car, a luxury watch, clothes, a scarf, or a tie."

Hanhan looked at Yuan Lingling with a proud expression, the little sprout on its head bobbing in anticipation of praise. Hanhan's form was a round, creamy-white egg with a sprout on top, two nimble little hands, but no feet, usually floating in the air.

It waited and waited, only to find that Lingling had actually fallen asleep! It was so frustrated that it turned into a jumble of brainwaves.

At noon, Mooh Bai made some pickled fish, spicy chicken, and mapo tofu, along with a simple winter melon and pork rib soup. These homestyle dishes left Lingling feeling exceptionally satisfied.

Chewing on the chicken, she couldn't help but praise, "Bai, this is so delicious! Whoever marries you in the future is going to be really lucky!"

"I only cook for you," Mooh Bai replied softly.

"Hmm? What did you say?" Lingling asked, not quite catching his words.

"Just eat up before it gets cold," Mooh Bai said, placing a piece of fish in Lingling's bowl.

Mooh Bai's expression was calm, but Lingling could tell he wasn't happy. She was puzzled: Why wasn't he happy when I complimented him?

Lingling shook her head, deciding not to dwell on it. Thinking too much would just ruin her appetite.

After lunch, Lingling changed her clothes and packed her bag, saying, "Bai, I have a meeting today. Can you stay home and finish up what we worked on yesterday?"

"Sis, who are you meeting? Can I come with you?" Mooh Bai asked, looking at Lingling with a puppy-like expression.

Lingling shook off the thought, patting his head. "Be good, it's a girl I'm meeting. It wouldn't be appropriate for you to come."

"Come back early."

"Got it, Mr. Butler, I'm off!"

Once Lingling left, the innocent look on Mooh Bai's face disappeared, replaced by a more somber expression—perhaps his true self.

Mooh Bai knew Lingling was very alert, so he didn't secretly follow her. Instead, he went to the study to work.

Lingling wandered through the mall but couldn't find the right gift. She sighed to herself: Why do birthdays require gifts? And why are they so hard to choose?

Suddenly, she spotted a beautifully decorated little shop. An idea sparked in her mind, and she stepped inside.
