C14 Silly Girl 14

"Why is he here?" Han Kun wondered, recalling how they used to avoid him at all costs. Little did he know, it wasn't just him; they were both there.

In the driver's seat, a man clad in a formal suit surveyed the surroundings before turning his gaze to the two of them. The passenger door swung open, and a woman in a white knee-length dress stepped out. Her white sneakers and daisy-adorned woven hat shone in the sunlight, giving her a fresh, radiant appearance, like a miniature sun capable of warming hearts. Fengye mused, could this be the fabled aura of the heroine?

Fu Yunfei approached and gave a nod to both of them, inquiring, "Is my mother inside?"

Han Kun was about to question his presence when Fengye's voice chimed in from beside him, "She's inside. Go ahead."

Her tone was nonchalant, as if the past events had slipped entirely from her memory.

Fu Yunfei raised an eyebrow, casting a surprised glance at Fengye before striding toward the living room.

Han Kun glanced between Fu Yunfei and Fengye, hesitating for a moment before saying, "I need to speak with him about something. We can catch up later."

"Sure," she responded, her expression unreadable.

Without further ado, Han Kun turned and hurried after Fu Yunfei.

Lin Huanhuan watched the two men walk away, her grip tightening on her purse. There was a time when Fu Yunfei would always remember to open the car door for her. She couldn't pinpoint when it had started to change, but the gesture had become less frequent. Standing before Su Lan today, she felt the stark contrast between the Fu Yunfei of the past and the man he was now.

Compelled by an unknown thought and watching Fengye at a distance, Lin Huanhuan stepped forward and offered a friendly greeting, "Hi, it's been a while."

Fengye, unsure of Lin Huanhuan's intentions but not one to be stingy with pleasantries, nodded in acknowledgment.

Yet Lin Huanhuan couldn't shake off the feeling that Fengye's casual demeanor was somewhat condescending.

She felt like a clown standing in front of her.

"Um, I'm sorry for causing you trouble and for making you move. I..."

"Hmm?" Fengye frowned. Was this foolishness or a lack of brains?

"Sorry, what did you say?"

Lin Huanhuan was taken aback, suddenly finding herself unable to finish her thought.

"Regardless of what you're trying to say, Miss Lin, I'd appreciate it if you'd think before you speak." Fengye had intended to keep her distance from this person, believing she had nothing to do with her. Yet, somehow, she seemed to think Fengye was approachable.

What trouble? It was she who had been shortsighted. She had once thought this person was alright, but now...

Lin Huanhuan bit her lip, feeling a stinging sensation at the corners of her eyes as tears unexpectedly began to fall.

Fengye, thoroughly irritated, didn't want to engage any further. She turned to leave.

Seeing her move, Lin Huanhuan's mind raced. "I know you moved because of me, to avoid seeing Yunfei and me."

Fengye halted.

She stood still, not turning around. Though her expression was hidden, Lin Huanhuan could almost feel Fengye's anger and resentment.

With this in mind, a sense of guilt washed over her. "I knew you were moving today, so I came with Yunfei. I didn't mean anything by it; I just wanted to persuade you and to say I'm sorry."

Her voice grew fainter with each word.

Fengye closed her eyes, the hurt in Lin Huanhuan's voice resonating clearly.
