C16 Silly Girl 16
Han Kun remarked, "Even though she looks pitiful, what business does Yunfei have trying to comfort me?"
Fengye chuckled, glancing at Han Kun's profile, and teased, "Perhaps she just wants your comfort."
"What?"
As Han Kun turned his head, Fengye's attention had already shifted to the roadside.
The setting here was quite pleasant. Situated on the periphery of the scenic area, it offered a sense of tranquility without the usual disturbances. With fewer tourists and stunning vistas, the landscape lacked the regimented division of the tourist spots, presenting instead a pastoral scene with an intermingling of fields and flowers, creating a unique ambiance.
A gentle breeze played with the strands of hair falling beside the woman's cheek.
For the first time, Han Kun realized that this girl he'd grown up with possessed a beauty that was different—so captivating that he found it hard to look away.
"The environment and scenery here are pretty nice, don't you think?"
Snapped out of his reverie by her voice, Han Kun quickly agreed, "Yes, very nice."
He averted his gaze, no longer allowing himself to be distracted, and focused intently on her words.
"I took my mom for a check-up recently, and the doctor mentioned she's showing signs of high blood pressure. I figured, even though our old neighborhood was bustling, this place might be better for her health. My dad might retire in a couple of years, and this area seems ideal for rest and recuperation. Plus, I can visit often. It took me a while to find this spot that really appealed to me."
"Indeed, it's a great location," Han Kun responded, his mind quietly shifting gears.
Initially, Han Kun suspected that the Su family's move was due to some trouble with their company.
After some investigation, he found no issues with the Su family, but he considered that he might have missed something, so he decided to inquire with Su Lan's parents.
Upon learning that the move was simply a change of residence, he speculated that perhaps Su Lan was still not over Fu Yunfei.
Could it have been because of Senior Mrs. Su's health?
After their leisurely walk, they made their way back home.
Upon entering the living room, Fengye couldn't help but notice the odd look Fu Yunfei gave her.
Observing Lin Huanhuan's evasive demeanor, she had a pretty good idea of what was going on.
After dinner, the senior members of the family exchanged pleasantries. Fengye, uncomfortable in crowded settings, found an excuse to slip out to the courtyard for some fresh air. Despite the lack of air conditioning and the presence of mosquitoes, the summer night was still pleasantly cool.
Relaxing on the swing in the courtyard, she was quite content. Yet, there always seemed to be someone clueless enough to disrupt her peace.
Footsteps grew louder as they neared. Opening her eyes, Fengye saw a man in a suit standing before her. "You're blocking my light," she said. The courtyard light had been shining her way, but now the tall man stood blocking it.
Fu Yunfei frowned and shifted aside slightly, but he didn't leave.
Fengye, growing impatient, decided if he wouldn't move, she would. This was her home, and her parents, Senior Mr. and Mrs. Su, were inside. She wasn't interested in engaging in conversation with him.
But Fu Yunfei seemed to have no intention of letting her pass. "I remember you were quite clear on the phone earlier."
He certainly had a confrontational air about him.
She turned to face him, her expression intrigued in the soft glow of the light. "What?"
"We had an understanding," he said.
"An understanding about what?"
Fu Yunfei's irritation was evident. "Let it go. I've moved on from the past and won't hold it against you. You shouldn't dwell on it either."
"Let it go?" Fengye blinked and retorted, "Are you suggesting I haven't?"
