C3 Silly Girl 3

After completing her discharge paperwork, Fengye approached Lin Huanhuan, holding out the remaining stack of cash: "Here, thanks for looking after me yesterday. This is for your trouble."

"I…" Lin Huanhuan was flustered, hesitating before turning to Han Kun with a feeble, "Brother Han…"

Han Kun frowned, his gaze upon her carrying a touch of disapproval.

Fengye had initially thought this woman was merely clueless, but now she found her somewhat irritating.

"I'm offering you a service fee. Why are you looking at him? It's not like I'm giving it to you for nothing. Take it or leave it!" she said, her voice casual yet tinged with impatience.

With trembling hands, Lin Huanhuan accepted the money.

It wasn't a large sum, just a few thousand, as her small handbag couldn't hold much.

She wouldn't have carried this cash if not for the need to have it handy for bribes.

Once Lin Huanhuan took the money, Fengye advised, "Don't be so naive in the future. If I were a bad person, I could have taken advantage of you. You'd be out the medical expenses, and you might even end up owing money!"

She gave Lin Huanhuan's shoulder a pat, her expression softening slightly as she looked at the woman's frail and helpless demeanor. What Fengye had intended to say was replaced with, "Now that you've taken the money, we're even. From now on, let's act as if we've never met."

Not know her, never seen her? Impossible, surely?

Besides, she was so close to Brother Han, she must know Fu Yunfei.

Lin Huanhuan's mind raced with thoughts, but Fengye wasn't concerned with such details.

Carrying her recently acquired bag of medicine, her stack of cards, and wearing her slippers, Fengye strode out of the hospital with her head held high.

Han Kun snapped back to reality, noticing Fengye was already a good distance away.

He gave Lin Huanhuan a nod, "That's just how she is. Thanks for taking care of her last night. You should head back and get some rest."

After dropping those words, Han Kun immediately took off after her. Lin Huanhuan watched his retreating figure with a touch of disappointment coloring her features.

She glanced down at the money in her hands, irritation bubbling up inside her. She felt like tossing it aside, yet it was a considerable sum after all. After a moment's hesitation, she placed the slightly damp bills into her purse and briskly exited the hospital.

She had only taken a few steps when a flashy red convertible zipped by. Han Kun, from the driver's seat, gave her a wave before speeding off into the distance.

As Lin Huanhuan watched the convertible shrink away, a sourness tinged her eyes. She recalled the times Han Kun had driven her home in that very car, but now another woman occupied the passenger seat, while she was left to hail a cab.

Why hadn't he let Su Lan finish her infusion at the hospital? Why hadn't he dropped her off first? She had toiled through the night, only to end up watching him drive away with another woman, leaving her to take a taxi alone. The more she dwelled on it, the sadder Lin Huanhuan felt.

Fengye caught sight of Lin Huanhuan's forlorn silhouette in the rearview mirror. She stroked her chin, reminiscing. Initially, Lin Huanhuan had harbored feelings for Han Kun.

Fengye recalled that at this point in time, Han Kun wasn't interested in Lin Huanhuan; he merely found her amusing. Even aware of Fu Yunfei's interest in the young nanny, Han Kun had entertained thoughts of playing matchmaker. Yet, Fengye remembered that Lin Huanhuan had already spoken with Fu Yunfei and they had established their relationship.
