C7 Silly Girl 7

The driver chuckled, "No worries, go ahead." Living in a villa, he wasn't concerned about her running off.

Embarrassed, Fengye nodded and exited the car, heading home. Fortunately, she soon encountered the household servants who kindly covered the fare.

Senior Mr. Su and Senior Mrs. Su preferred peace and quiet, but someone had to maintain their expansive villa. Thus, they employed a few staff members. One tended the garden, while two middle-aged women took care of their meals and domestic needs. Additionally, there were cleaners who came for regular deep cleaning sessions.

The two women responsible for the garden and domestic affairs had been with the Su family for seven to eight years.

"Miss Su, why the rush today? You didn't come home yesterday, and the lady of the house was quite worried."

"I had some things to take care of yesterday," she responded. "I'll transfer the car fare to you later. Thank you for your help."

Upon arriving home and seeing Senior Mrs. Su still engrossed in her phone in the living room, Fengye breathed a sigh of relief. "Mom."

Senior Mrs. Su looked up and smiled instinctively at the sight of her, but her expression quickly turned stern. "You little rascal, where did you disappear to last night? I was beside myself with worry. Thankfully, I called Yunfei, and he assured me you were alright, which calmed my nerves."

That happened?

Su Lan didn't recall any conversation between Senior Mrs. Su and Fu Yunfei.

Unaware of her daughter's subtle shift in demeanor, Senior Mrs. Su's eyes were fixed on her. "What on earth are you wearing?"

"Oh, I stumbled upon a new Western restaurant yesterday. The food was decent, and the wine was rich. I overindulged a bit and got drunk. It poured last night, and I got soaked, so I just picked up some clothes from a nearby store," she murmured, nestling close to Senior Mrs. Su, her tone almost coquettish.

"This…" Senior Mrs. Su sighed with a hint of resignation. "Where were you last night? You need to give me a clear explanation..." Her face was etched with concern. Not coming home was one thing, but returning in different clothes had certainly sparked additional worries in Senior Mrs. Su's mind.

Before Senior Mrs. Su could finish her reprimand, Fengye interjected, "Mom, I got drunk last night and ended up in the rain, which gave me a fever. I had no choice but to go to the hospital." She earnestly presented her medical records and prescription to Senior Mrs. Su for inspection.

She didn't want to cause her mother any worry, but felt that honesty was the best policy.

"However, the food at that place was genuinely delicious. Mom, how about we go there again tonight? My treat, and I promise not to overdo it with the drinks!"

Senior Mrs. Su set aside the medical documents and tapped Fengye on the head, "You rascal, we can't go tonight. Yunfei has invited your father and me out to meet someone. It's alright if your father can't make it because he's busy, but I need to be there."

"Mom!" Fengye had hurried back, desperate to intercept her.

Senior Mrs. Su sighed, "You just ate there yesterday, didn't you? Such a craving you have. I'll go with you tomorrow."

She playfully nudged Fengye's nose as she spoke, "Yunfei has extended a warm invitation. It could very well be to discuss your marriage to him."

Fengye looked at her mother's gleaming eyes and felt a twinge of resignation.

This family of hers.

It was they who had considered ending the engagement when the Fu family faced difficulties. And now, they were the ones eager to see their daughter married.

Of course, with different perspectives come different interpretations. The Su family may have wronged the Fu family, but they were devoted to Su Lan. She was their only daughter, and they poured their hearts into doing right by her.

"Mom, let's not dwell on it."

"What?" Senior Mrs. Su was momentarily puzzled by her daughter's sudden solemnity.
