C6 Fake Adoptive Mother!

Gu Xiangyun shot Su Jin a meaningful glance, but Su Jin feigned ignorance, much to Xiangyun's irritation.

She thought a mere quip could erase her attempt to frame me? Wishful thinking.

Withdrawing her hand, Su Jin fixed Gu Xiangyun with an icy stare and smiled thinly. "My sister is twenty, two years my senior. Surely she knows right from wrong? Or could it be that her judgment is still immature, leading her to such folly?"

Gu Xiangyun's fury was palpable as she glared back at Su Jin, her eyes brimming with malice.

The nerve of that little wretch, mocking Su Nuo as if she were a mere child!

She's unforgivable.

"Why do you look at me with such hostility, Mother? I may not be your flesh and blood, but I've always regarded you as my true mother. Surely you're not playing favorites?" Su Jin shot back.

Gu Xiangyun was seething, tempted to lash out at Su Jin for her audacity to challenge her in public.

Yet, the thought of forcing Su Nuo to apologize to Su Jin was unbearable.

In desperation, Gu Xiangyun sought Su Mingyuan's intervention. Mingyuan, inclined to support Xiangyun, deftly shifted the focus. "The banquet is about to start. Let's all take our seats."

The crowd hesitated, then caught on to Su Mingyuan's tactic to divert attention. Out of respect for him, they held their tongues and proceeded downstairs.

Su Jin wasn't particularly upset by this turn of events; it was almost expected.

She stood in the corner, her gaze lowered, her solitary figure exuding vulnerability that stirred a protective instinct in Fu Siyan.

It was no wonder she had stumbled into his room, battered and bruised. She had been set up.

"The Su family's discipline is indeed eye-opening," Fu Siyan remarked, breaking his silence.

All eyes turned to him, their expressions a mix of awe and respect.

As the head of the foremost family in Feng City, the Fu's wielded considerable influence.

With Fu Siyan weighing in, the issue was far from being swept under the rug.

Su Mingyuan, puzzled, offered a sheepish grin. "Mr. Fu, you jest. The Su family maintains strict discipline, and I pride myself on being fair and just, never showing favoritism."

"Oh, really?" Fu Siyan said with a knowing smile. "Businesspeople always emphasize fairness and justice. If you can't adhere to that, I believe we need to reassess our partnership."

Su Mingyuan's smile stiffened; he had seen the writing on the wall.

Fu Siyan was clearly here to defend Su Jin today. Without a satisfactory explanation, Su Mingyuan feared his future business endeavors would no longer align with the Fu family.

Feeling cornered and under the scrutiny of many, Su Mingyuan directed his ire towards Gu Xiangyun. "Look at the mess you've made."

Unable to implicate Su Nuo, Gu Xiangyun took the fall. "Yes, it's all my fault. I was misled by the servants' words and misunderstood Su Jin."

Gu Xiangyun was an adept actress. She approached Su Jin with a facade of friendliness. "Jin, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. But we're family; we can't let outsiders laugh at us, right?"

As she grasped Su Jin's hand, her nails bit sharply into her skin, her eyes filled with malice, fixating on Su Jin like a serpent's gaze.

In her past life, Su Jin would have forgiven them with grace.

But having lived once more, she had come to recognize the treachery of human hearts.

She would no longer seek the meager kinship of the Su family.

"Can a simple 'misunderstanding' erase the damage done to me?" Su Jin pulled her hand away, her gaze icy as she confronted Gu Xiangyun with a sardonic smile. "The three men upstairs are very much real. Aren't you curious how they got in?"
