C9 I Owe You too Much!

After Gu Xiangyun departed, Su Jin breathed a sigh of relief.

The place had cleared out; no one remained to concern themselves with her welfare.

The restaurant was a good distance from the Su family home.

Without a penny to her name, Su Jin had no choice but to slowly make her way back in her high heels.

Gazing at the seemingly endless road, she let out a wry, helpless chuckle.

She couldn't help but think that if she had to walk all the way home, her feet would surely give out.

Suddenly, a blinding light shone from behind her, prompting her to instinctively step aside.

A limited edition Bugatti pulled up before her.

As the window lowered, a handsome face came into view.

"Get in," Fu Siyan stated icily.

Taken aback, Su Jin looked at him and murmured a soft "Thank you."

She opened the door and gingerly settled into the seat.

Her heart raced as she caught a glimpse of Fu Siyan's hand from the corner of her eye.

His hand instilled a profound sense of security in her.

The car jostled, and Su Jin's hand inadvertently brushed against his.

A faint warmth spread through her skin, stirring an overwhelming urge to cry.

She was so grateful that he was still alive.

The drive from the restaurant to the Su family residence took thirty minutes.

To Su Jin, it felt like an eternity, as memories of her past life with Fu Siyan played through her mind like scenes from a movie.

His kindness, his gentleness, his affection.

"Miss Su, we've arrived," the driver announced, pulling Su Jin from her reverie.

Regaining her composure, she softly expressed her thanks to Fu Siyan, then pushed the door open and stepped out.

No sooner had Su Jin exited than the car sped off.

She stood there for a moment, lost in the direction Fu Siyan had gone, before finally walking through the Su family's gates.

Inside the study, papers were strewn about the floor, and Su Mingyuan's face was a picture of frustration as he berated his assistant, "What's going on with you all? How could you have submissions rejected three times in one month?"

The assistant, visibly shaken, replied in a hushed tone, "The client's demands are simply too high; we're unable to meet their expectations."

Su Mingyuan gestured towards the table and snapped, "If you can't even meet this simple requirement, what good are you?"

The assistant glanced at the irate Su Mingyuan and whispered, "Perhaps we should call on the Third Lady for assistance. She's been involved in all the past projects, and her innovative ideas and sleek, impressive designs have always been a hit with the clients."

With a weary sigh, Su Mingyuan massaged his temples before relenting, "Please ask the Third Lady to come to my study."

As the assistant turned to leave, Su Mingyuan stopped him, "And have Ms. Zhang send up some of the Third Lady's favorite dessert."

The assistant nodded in acknowledgment, then stepped out, closing the door behind him.

Once home, Su Jin refreshed herself with a shower and changed her clothes.

After nibbling on some bread to satisfy her hunger, she was about to settle down when a knock at the door caught her attention.

Opening it, she found Su Mingyuan's assistant waiting.

"The chairman requests your presence in the study," he informed her.

In her past life, Su Jin had a knack for design, submitting her work to scrape together a living. Once Su Mingyuan discovered her talent, he exploited it relentlessly.

She pondered, was she destined to be used by him again in this life?

No way.

Her face remained impassive, but her eyes betrayed a steely resolve as she told the assistant, "Inform him I'll be there shortly."

After he left, Su Jin made her way to Su Mingyuan's study.

Pushing the door open, she spotted a slice of Black Forest cake and a cup of milk tea on the table—her preferred sweets.

Su Mingyuan was as naive as ever, thinking he could win her over with cake.

How laughable.
