C26 Yu'er!

… The next day.

Unlike usual, Zhang Ma did not appear in the west courtyard. Instead, a new maid came to deliver the medicine.

Bi Yao took the medicine and looked at the new maid. She asked curiously, “Where is Zhang Ma? Why did you come to deliver the medicine?”

“Big Sister Bi Yao, Zhang Ma suddenly fell ill and was sent to the manor by the Lady. I’m afraid that she won’t be able to serve the Lady anymore,” the maid said respectfully. “The Lady asked me to take over Zhang Ma’s job.”

“What’s your name?” Bi Yao asked.

“I’m called Yu Er,” the maid said.

“Well, you do have a good name,” Bi Yao looked at the maid’s white and tender face and nodded. She took out some silver coins and handed them to her. “The Lady gave you the reward money. Take it.”

“I don’t dare to!” Yu Er shook her head hurriedly, as if she was frightened.

“Just take it. Don’t be so pretentious. The Lady doesn’t like to be shy. Just serve the Lady in the west courtyard. You’ll be good.” Bi Yao didn’t want to waste her breath on her. She directly put the silver coins into Yu Er’s hand and walked into the room with the medicine in her hand. “Alright, you can go now.”

Yu Er looked at the silver coins in her hand and then at Bi Yao’s back. She secretly looked around and made sure that no one saw her. Then, she carefully put the silver coins into her pocket.

Last night, she found a big bag of silver in Mrs. Zhang’s room. It was all the money that she usually gave out as a reward. Yu Er was there too, and she was so shocked that she couldn’t believe her eyes. That big bag was enough for her to spend for the next ten years. After she finished with Mrs. Zhang, she scolded the servants who were present as a warning to them. However…

Who wouldn’t love money?

Especially Yu Er, who had been poor since she was a child. Mu Jia was so generous. She had been serving in the east courtyard for two years, and she only received money as a reward during the holidays. It was all copper coins. Compared to the Eldest Miss, the Second Lady was too stingy.

In the room.

Bi Yao came in with a bowl of medicine. She casually put it aside and walked to the bedroom. She excitedly told Mu Jia about the latest news, “Miss, something happened to Mrs. Zhang! The people who sent the medicine today were changed! Tong Xiuchun must have started to clean up Mrs. Zhang!”

“Oh? She is so decisive.” Mu Jia slightly smiled, but her eyes never left the book in her hand.

It had only been two days since the day that Yu Er came to the west courtyard and found something strange. In such a short time, she had to follow Mrs. Zhang and figure out her whereabouts. She also had to figure out the background of Chuanxiang House and Huai Ren Hall. Tong Xiuchun was indeed capable.

Bi Qiao took her clothes and entered the room. She held the bowl of medicine in her hand and frowned as she said to Mu Jia, “Since something happened to Mrs. Zhang, why does the Second Lady still dare to send the medicine to Miss? Isn’t she afraid that Miss will find something fishy in the medicine?”

“That’s good. It means that she hasn’t suspected me yet,” Mu Jia said slowly. She took the medicine from Bi Qiao and took a sip. Then she spat it into the spittoon. After she rinsed her mouth, she nodded and said, “She didn’t suspect me. The formula is still the same.”

Bi Yao was angry. “Second Lady is too arrogant! She is so unscrupulous because she has the support of Old Madam Tong. When the Lady comes, she will punish her severely!”

“Why would we use a knife to kill a chicken? My parents don’t have time to deal with her.” Mu Jia sneered.

Bi Qiao smiled cunningly when she heard that. “What Miss said is true. If we pull the relationship between Zhang Ma and Second Aunt, we will stab the Second Lady in the heart. How can the East Courtyard be peaceful in the future? We just have to sit and watch the tigers fight.”

“That’s right. We just have to watch the Second Courtyard,” Mu Jia said with a faint smile.

Bi Yao curled her lips and said, “It’s not satisfying to pull Second Lady down with my own hands.”

“I didn’t want to pull her down with my own hands. Compared to revenge, I prefer the game of cat and mouse. Of course, if there is a game of killing each other, I don’t mind playing the role of a spectator,” Mu Jia said slowly.
