C10 Thirty Thousand a Month
Three knocks at the door pulled Yi Lanyou out of her reverie.
"Come in," Yi Lanyou said, clearing her throat as she turned around.
The door swung open to reveal Yi Haoen.
"Hm?" Yi Lanyou was somewhat perplexed. Before her rebirth, Yi Haoen wasn't this enthusiastic. Could it be that her rebirth had somehow changed Yi Haoen as well?
"I've taken care of your school arrangements," Yi Haoen began. "I've arranged for a driver and a car for you. From now on, Older Yu will handle your daily commute."
"I understand," Yi Lanyou replied, recalling that in her past life, it was Fang Fang who had informed her of such matters.
Yi Haoen went on, "Your stepmother might have said something today that led to a misunderstanding. She means well but sometimes struggles to convey her feelings. You..."
Yi Lanyou, grasping the intent behind Yi Haoen's visit, cut him off decisively, "I understand."
"You're a clever girl," Yi Haoen acknowledged, nodding with a look of affirmation. Despite Yi Lanyou's occasional lapses in temperament, she was sensible. She wasn't beyond hope.
"Dad, is there anything else?" Yi Lanyou inquired.
"Just one last thing," Yi Haoen said, placing a credit card on the nearby table. "Use this card for your expenses. It has a monthly limit of thirty thousand."
"Thank you, Dad," Yi Lanyou accepted without demur, nodding slightly.
"You should get some rest," Yi Haoen advised before he left the room. After exiting Yi Lanyou's room, he headed straight to the third-floor study, knocked, and entered. "Dad," he greeted.
Yi Weihai, while reviewing documents, responded, "Yi Lanyou's arrival is bound to stir emotions in Fang Fang and Rui'er. It's to be expected. Just manage it as you see fit."
"I understand," Yi Haoen replied.
"Have you sorted out everything for Yi Lanyou's schooling?" Yi Weihai inquired.
"Yes, it's all taken care of," Yi Haoen confirmed.
"Have you prepared your statement for the public?" Yi Weihai shifted his gaze from the document to Yi Haoen.
"I'm ready," Yi Haoen responded.
"This concerns the Yi family's honor. Handle it with care, understood?" Yi Weihai's expression was grave.
"I understand," Yi Haoen nodded, then, as if something had just occurred to him, added, "And what about the Loong family?"
"The Loong family has been in touch. The engagement stands," Yi Weihai removed his reading glasses and let out a weary sigh. "You may leave now."
"Alright, try to get some rest soon."
After Yi Haoen exited the study, Yi Weihai squinted towards the desk lamp, feeling a change was coming to Z City. Whether for better or worse, he couldn't say. He could only hope that the Yi family would remain unscathed.
Meanwhile, at Z City International Airport, a man emerged, his white shirt collar slightly undone, a black suit jacket draped casually over his arm, and a subtle smile playing on his lips. His presence caused onlookers to linger with their gazes, speculating about the identity of this potential celebrity.
"Young Master Long, over here!" The woman waiting for him had long, wavy hair and captivating, seductive eyes.
"Vera," Young Master Long acknowledged with a slight smile.
The woman naturally took his jacket. "What brings you to Z City so suddenly? Does anyone know you're here?"
"No one," Young Master Long replied as he got into the car and smoothly buckled his seatbelt.
"Oh, you!" Vera shook her head in resignation and took her place behind the wheel. "You've always been this way—once you've made up your mind, no one can sway you, and you've never really cared what others think. I can't imagine what kind of woman could put up with you!" A thought seemed to strike her, and she asked, "Isn't your fiancée here in Z City?"
"Yes," Young Master Long replied indifferently. "I intend to make her call off the engagement herself." That was one of the reasons he had come to Z City.
