C14 The Limited Edition Perfume of Diao
Yi Lanyou meandered from the first floor up to the cosmetics section on the third, browsing with a casual air. She paused in her tracks when she came across a limited edition Dior perfume, turning to examine the fragrance with interest.
Nearby, a sales associate took note of Yi Lanyou's simple attire and decided not to approach her. With over two years of experience in sales, she prided herself on her keen ability to size up potential customers. To her, someone dressed like a penniless student was unlikely to splurge on Dior, especially not a limited edition.
Yi Lanyou picked up a tester and inhaled its scent, her eyes sparkling with delight. She was about to inquire about the price when she was met with the sales associate's chilly tone, "This is a limited edition. It's quite pricey."
With a slight arch of her brow, Yi Lanyou replaced the tester and turned to face the sales associate. Despite the sting of condescension, she managed to keep her composure and asked, "How much for this perfume?" Her gaze drifted to the name tag pinned to the associate's chest. It read Sunn Yuan.
Just then, Sunn Yuan's attention shifted to a stylishly dressed woman who had just arrived, and she hurried off to attend to the new potential customer, leaving Yi Lanyou's question hanging unanswered.
Left standing there, Yi Lanyou's eyes narrowed slightly. Was Sunn Yuan dismissing her?
Another sales associate, noticing Yi Lanyou alone by the counter, approached briskly, her demeanor warm and welcoming. "Hello, may I assist you with any of our products?"
Yi Lanyou glanced at the newcomer's name tag. It was Lin Xue, who appeared to be a probationary employee. Yi Lanyou nodded, "How much is this perfume?"
Lin Xue replied, "This perfume is Dior's limited edition for the season. It's a bit on the pricier side at 1,500 yuan." She glanced at Yi Lanyou's outfit and added, "Chanel offers a perfume with a similar scent. It's slightly smaller in volume, but the price is only half of this one. If you're not accustomed to spending a lot on perfume, I'd recommend checking out the Chanel option."
"No need," Yi Lanyou said with a smile, admiring the bottle of Dior limited edition perfume in front of her. "I'll take this one."
"Huh?" Lin Xue was taken aback, not expecting Yi Lanyou to be able to afford such a perfume. She quickly regained her composure, flashing a professional smile and nodding. "Certainly, just give me a moment, please."
"Sure. I'd like to pick out a few more items," Yi Lanyou said, glancing around the store.
"Of course," Lin Xue replied, her eyes sparkling. Sales commissions were a perk of the job, and though hers were modest as a probationary employee, her sales figures were crucial for securing a permanent position.
Yi Lanyou meticulously examined the merchandise while Lin Xue stayed close by her side, offering detailed explanations of each product.
From a distance, Sunn Yuan cast a disdainful glance their way, her mouth twisting into a sneer. What could a poor student like that afford? She thought the new sales associate was foolish for wasting time on someone who clearly couldn't spend much. Sunn Yuan, with her experience, prided herself on knowing which customers deserved her attention.
After selecting a few more items, Yi Lanyou proceeded to checkout with Lin Xue's assistance. Meanwhile, Sunn Yuan was also finalizing a sale with her own customer.
Sunn Yuan's surprise was evident when she saw Yi Lanyou completing her purchase. She was even more astonished to notice that every single item Lin Xue was holding for Yi Lanyou was from the new season's limited edition collection.
"The total comes to 15,000 yuan. Will you be paying with card or cash?" the cashier inquired cheerfully.
"Credit card," Yi Lanyou responded, passing her card over. The cashier swiped it with both hands and, returning it with a smile, said, "Thank you for your patronage."
As Yi Lanyou walked away with her bag, she passed by Sunn Yuan and caught a glimpse of her bewildered expression, prompting a cold snort from Yi Lanyou.
