C30 Fang Yuan Complained

Yi Haoen turned around and saw Fang Yuan, who was completely stunned. "Fang Yuan."

Having just witnessed Yi Rui'er and Zhou Li being beaten, Fang Yuan was startled when Yi Haoen suddenly called her name, causing her to instinctively step back.

"I'm arranging for someone to take you home now," Yi Haoen said, giving Fang Yuan a cold glance. "Immediately!"

Fang Yuan wouldn't be subjected to a beating, but being sent home in the middle of the night was a first for her. She knew she'd be in for a scolding from her parents, yet she felt like a victim too—after all, her hair had been cut by that wretched Yi Lanyou!

With that thought, Fang Yuan glared at Yi Lanyou with venom. "You'll see, this isn't over!"

Yi Lanyou observed Fang Yuan's reaction but said nothing. Instead, she extended her right hand in a gesture of farewell.

Fuming at Yi Lanyou's gesture and smile, Fang Yuan stomped her foot in frustration, but nonetheless, she was escorted away by the servants of the Yi mansion.

With the commotion settled, Yi Haoen found himself wide awake. He poured himself a glass of water and settled onto the couch. Fang Fang promptly had someone call a doctor to examine Yi Rui'er's injuries, while the servants retreated to their rooms, too disturbed by the night's events to sleep.

"Dad, I'm going to bed," Yi Lanyou announced, disregarding the others and addressing Yi Haoen. She began to walk away.

"Lanyou," Yi Haoen called out, stopping Yi Lanyou in her tracks.

"Yes?" Yi Lanyou turned to face him.

"An incident like this won't happen again. You can stay here with peace of mind," Yi Haoen assured her. He felt a degree of responsibility for the situation. He had brought Yi Lanyou home but neglected her, which was likely why the servants felt emboldened to act so insolently and bear false witness. Yi Rui'er was at fault too. Though he understood that Yi Rui'er was displeased with Yi Lanyou's presence, he hadn't anticipated that Yi Rui'er would falsely accuse her.

"Okay, good night, Dad," Yi Lanyou replied with a gentle smile and a nod. She turned and ascended the stairs, each step echoing her silent sneer.

Will this never happen again? What a joke. This is merely the beginning! Yi Rui'er won't just let this slide, Fang Yuan will seek another chance for revenge, and Fang Fang won't stand by as her life with the Yi family improves...

But what of it? What does it all amount to?

Since she agreed to return home with Yi Haoen, she isn't intimidated by their vile plots. I'll treat them exactly as they treat me. She's already faced death once; what's there to fear now?

Yi Lanyou ascended to the second floor and was about to turn the corner when she spotted Yi Weihai standing at the opposite end. Clearly, he had witnessed everything that had transpired in the living room.

Yi Weihai regarded Yi Lanyou with a probing look.

Meeting Yi Weihai's gaze, Yi Lanyou lifted the corner of her mouth slightly. "Goodnight, Grandfather."

"Mm," Yi Weihai responded curtly, then turned to leave.

Yi Lanyou paused, watching Yi Weihai's retreating figure, her mind swirling with confusion and contemplation.

In her past life, Yi Weihai had ordered her return to the family but remained indifferent towards her. Yi Lanyou had assumed it was because she hadn't grown up by his side, which explained their lack of closeness. But now, it seemed that Yi Weihai's relationship with Yi Rui'er was similarly distant.

Yi Rui'er had been severely punished. If Yi Weihai had wanted to defend Yi Rui'er, Yi Haoen would never have dared to cross his father.

Yet Yi Weihai had said nothing. He just watched.

Did Yi Weihai think Yi Rui'er had indeed gone too far and deserved to be disciplined, or was it that Yi Rui'er was merely his granddaughter?

With these thoughts, Yi Lanyou also turned and went back to her room. Initially, after her rebirth, she was solely focused on revenge, but now she sensed that things were not as straightforward as they seemed.

She needed to clear her head...

Meanwhile, Yi Rui'er was in her room, crying her eyes out. Her sobs intensified when the doctor came to treat her wounds. Fang Fang, hearing her cries of pain, felt an overwhelming sense of heartache.

After the doctor had left, Yi Rui'er continued to cry incessantly. She had never experienced a beating or scolding in her life, and it was all that cursed Yi Lanyou's fault! It was all her doing!

"Mommy, it hurts, it really hurts!" Yi Rui'er's tears drenched her pillow. "It's all Yi Lanyou's fault, all of it. She dared to plot against me... Mommy, the pain is unbearable..."

Fang Yuan's grip tightened into fists, and her gaze grew more ferocious. She was determined to settle the score with Yi Lanyou.

She would never allow Yuan Hui's daughter to bully her own!

Meanwhile, Fang Yuan, having been sent back home, faced the severe scolding she had anticipated from her parents.

Their daughter had been returned home in the middle of the night for a misdeed, a source of immense shame for any ordinary family, let alone a prestigious one like theirs. If word got out, it would not just be Fang Yuan who would be disgraced, but the entire Fang family. They suspected that Fang Yuan must have made a grave error, for Yi Haoen would not have disregarded the ties between the Yi and Fang families without good reason.

Having had her cherished hair cut at the Yi's mansion, and then being berated for an hour upon her return home, Fang Yuan felt deeply aggrieved. She sought solace in her sister Fang Lian's room, weeping and seeking sympathy.

Fang Lian listened to Fang Yuan's account and saw her sister's haphazardly chopped hair, her eyes flashing with severity.

"Sister, you have to help me get revenge," Fang Yuan implored through tears, looking up at Fang Lian. "Yi Rui'er was also victimized by that Yi Lanyou. She was whipped by our uncle several times! You must help us get revenge!"

"There, there," Fang Lian soothed, gently stroking Fang Yuan's head. "Big sister will take care of it. The Yi family's troubles are their own doing, a case of the dog biting its own tail. Don't be fooled into thinking they're the good guys." Her voice dropped to a chilling tone, "And don't place too much trust in our aunt either. She would sacrifice any one of us in a heartbeat if it served the Fang family or her own interests."

"Sister..." Fang Yuan's voice broke as she spoke, her sense of injustice deepening. She bit her lip and asked, "Why do Mom and Dad blame me when I come home after being wronged? They haven't offered a single word of comfort from start to finish. Why is that?"

Fang Lian's heart ached upon hearing her sister's question. She wrapped Fang Yuan in a comforting embrace and whispered, "Don't worry, your big sister will always be here for you."

Beneath the surface of a family that seemed to shine with brilliance and beauty, each member was ultimately only out for themselves.

At present, the Faang family was still dependent on the Yi family. They wanted the Faang heirs to maintain good relations with the Yi heirs. So, when they saw Fang Yuan returned home in distress, their primary concern was whether the Faang family would face repercussions. Who would spare a thought for Fang Yuan's feelings?

Outside, a flash of lightning split the night sky, and a torrential downpour ensued. Fang Lian's usually serene face took on a look of steely determination, her features cast in a grim light by the stormy tableau beyond the window.

"Yi Lanyou, it was her, wasn't it?" Fang Lian murmured as she gently soothed Fang Yuan's back, "I'll ensure she pays a hundredfold for this."

She was resolute; whoever crossed them would not escape retribution.
