C13 The Conditions
Qin Guangjun kept a calm face while negotiating with his daughter, as if he were casually saying, "Hey, sweetie, it's a nice day today, isn't it?"
In truth, only he knew that what he really wanted to do was give this little troublemaker a good scolding.
"That's easy enough," she said. "What I mean is, transfer all your real estate and liquid assets to my name. As my guardian, you can still use the assets reasonably, as long as you don't infringe on my legal rights..."
Qin Guangjun felt weak all over, with an inexplicable urge to break down and cry. This was his beloved daughter, the one he cherished with all his heart.
He was terrified she would side with her mom, and if they divorced, half of everything would go to her. If he made any wrong move, he'd lose everything! He was trying to leave a way out for her mom, but did she ever consider him? He was her dad, her real dad!
"Qin Su, have you ever thought about the fact that I'm your dad, huh?"
Qin Guangjun's face turned cold, a sense of desolation washing over him. What had he done to deserve this?
"All I know is you wronged my mom, and I need to find a way out for her. That's all there is to it. Are you going to agree or not?"
Qin Guangjun wiped away the tears that almost fell, turning his reddened eyes away from Qin Su, and growled softly.
"Fine, I agree, okay? Tomorrow, I'll transfer everything. I'll show you the proof, alright? What else do you want? Just say it, and it's yours. I'll give you everything. If you want my life, you can have it. I'm your dad. Do you really think all I care about is women and money?"
Qin Su watched her dad, noticing he was acting a bit off, but she didn't say anything and just turned to leave. It wasn't that she was heartless; the memories from her past life still haunted her. Her dad had been the reason for her mom's death back then. Even though she'd stopped it from happening this time around, it wasn't easy to let go of the resentment. Otherwise, the Qin Su from before her rebirth wouldn't have died without forgiving him.
Qin Guangjun took a while to calm down before he started making calls to consult with a law firm, preparing to transfer assets. He had only one thought now: to make his daughter happy. Nothing else mattered. He just wanted his daughter back. From the looks of things, if he didn't make a move soon, she might never let it go.
He had raised her for over a decade, poured half his life into her. Was he really going to falter now? Didn't she realize that everything he worked for was for her? That stubborn girl, using this to push him, thinking he wouldn't give in? How did he raise her to be like this? That little rascal, little troublemaker—just because she didn't come from his own flesh and blood, why was her heart so twisted?
Oh, his heart ached terribly!
In the afternoon, I met with the lawyer, and by evening, I called a few buddies out for drinks at our usual spot, Dream of the Tang Dynasty.
"You tell me! How could that little brat be so heartless to me? I'm his father, for crying out loud!"
Watching him cry like that, the same guy who never shed a tear even when he lost everything but his shorts back in the day, made all of us feel pretty lousy. Especially Sunn Jiang—he could really relate.
But the girl from the Qin family is even tougher than his. She quietly pushed old Qin to this point, handling everything so thoroughly that no one else could intervene. Just based on that, she's a cut above most girls, and definitely way ahead of his daughter.
