C18 He Asked for Help
Upon hearing this, Pann Hao jolted and quickly responded, "Just tell me what to do!"
Qin Su, with a mischievous glint, gave Pann Hao a suggestion. Since Pann Hao was already hanging out with some rough crowds, why not make it more obvious? If the adults were causing a ruckus, the kids could too. Pann Hao was a teenager going through a rebellious phase, so why not go all out?
He started acting out—smoking, drinking, getting into fights, and hitting the bars. Qin Su didn't believe that his parents would keep focusing on their own issues while ignoring their son going down the wrong path.
Trusting Qin Su's advice, Pann Hao went all in, landing himself in the police station twice in one month. It was only then that Pann Minwei and Tian Yuqin realized they had a real problem on their hands.
"Yuqin, don't you think it's time we stop fighting? If we keep this up, I'm afraid our son will be lost. He's in his rebellious phase, and if we're not careful, we could really mess things up," Pann Minwei said.
Tian Yuqin found Pann Minwei exasperating, but she had no choice. With all the chaos, the one who suffered the most was her beloved son.
"Pann Minwei, I don't have the energy to argue with you anymore. For the sake of our son, we need to keep going."
"Let's wait until the kids are grown up to talk about it. In a few years, if we need to go our separate ways, we will. But for now, just keep your head down and behave. I don't care about anything else, as long as my son is okay."
Pann Minwei nodded, squinting his eyes. As long as she didn't make a fuss, he could handle anything. He finally understood why Sunn was acting out back then—now it was his turn. His wife was even more of a handful than Sunn's daughter. He figured the best outcome would be like Qin's situation.
He'd rather give all his money to Tian Yuqin if it meant she would stop tormenting him. Anything to keep the peace.
Did he regret it? Absolutely. He regretted it so much it hurt. All for a little thrill, and now look where it got him—more excitement than he ever wanted.
They almost lost everything.
Since last night, when he bailed Pann Hao out of the police station and saw his son's head all bandaged up, his heart had been aching.
Qin was right. Why mess up a good life for something so foolish?
Regret doesn't come cheap, and now all he hoped for was for this mess to blow over quickly so the family could have some peace. He didn't ask for anything else.
After coming to terms with it, Pann Minwei made a promise in front of the whole family to stay on the straight and narrow and never make the same mistake again.
Tian Yuqin scoffed, seeing Pan Minwei as nothing more than a jerk. She tolerated him for now, but once the kids were older, she planned to deal with him.
As winter break rolled around, after resolving matters at Pan Hao's home, Pan Hao sought out Qin Su.
"Shortbread, I gotta say, I really admire you now! You're the real deal. Anyway, I've arranged everything for your aunt. There's a spot on Tenth Street, not far from your neighborhood. It's a storefront in a good location, but a bit pricey."
"How much?" Qin Su asked nonchalantly. For her, if money could solve it, it wasn't a problem—she had plenty.
"Rent is six thousand a year, and it's one hundred twenty thousand to buy. But it's spacious, about a hundred square feet. I checked it out; the owner is looking to sell quickly because they're moving abroad. I think it's a good deal; we won't lose out."
"Alright, let's buy it."
