C5 He Found His Comrades

Anyway, after that incident, Pann Hao finally respected Qin Su and never dared to mess with her again. Over time, as they interacted more, they became friends. While he didn't always follow her every word, he rarely disagreed with her.

Later, Qin Su moved out of state, and Pann Hao went abroad shortly after, not returning for over a decade. Occasionally, he'd send an email to say hello, but he never mentioned the past or their families, perhaps deliberately avoiding the topic. After all, it wasn't just Qin Su's dad involved back then; Pann Hao's dad was too...

"I'm just checking in because you seemed off today. Is that not allowed?"

Pann Hao rolled his eyes, interrupting Qin Su's thoughts. "Geez, can't you recognize when someone cares, you stubborn girl?"

He was silently grumbling about Qin Su when she suddenly turned serious.

"Pann Hao, meet me at the teahouse across from school after class. I need your help with something."

Pann Hao was a bit taken aback. Qin Su had always called him "Shortbread" since they were kids, so hearing her use his full name so earnestly made him wonder if something serious was up. He spent the whole day distracted, lost in thought during class.

As soon as the dismissal bell rang, he was the first to dash out of the school gates. After waiting about ten minutes at the teahouse, he finally spotted Qin Su and eagerly waved her over. "Shortbread, over here!"

Qin Su walked over calmly, put down her backpack, and took a seat. Pann Hao took a sip of his tea and nervously asked, "What's up? Why did we have to talk outside?"

Qin Su looked Pann Hao up and down until he felt so uneasy that he scratched his head. Then she pulled out a photo.

"Aren't you familiar with a bunch of drifters and shady folks? Don't give me that look. I know all about your little secrets. But seriously, I need a favor. I need you to find a couple of people to tail this woman. If you see her meeting a guy alone, let me know right away."

Pann Hao was genuinely stunned, caught off guard by Qin Su's request. He stared at her, bewildered.

"What's going on? Who is this woman? Come on, Qin Su, you can't keep me in the dark about this."

Pann Hao was sharp. He could tell something was off just by listening. He didn't recognize the woman in the photo, but the fact that Qin Su came to him meant it was serious.

Qin Su gritted her teeth and whispered, "Meng Lili, my dad's mistress."

Seeing Pann Hao's shocked expression, Qin Su glared at him. "This stays between us. Don't mess this up for me. I haven't got the evidence yet, so don't ruin it."

Pann Hao slapped his forehead, trying to clear his thoughts. After a long pause, he finally exhaled and asked quietly.

"What are you planning to do?"

"This is unbelievable! The girl caught me red-handed, and only someone like Qin Su could pull this off, looking so calm and collected. I really admire her."

"Let's get some evidence first. Honestly, do you have someone reliable for this?"

Pan Hao thought it over for a long time, wrestling with the decision before finally nodding resolutely.

Even though it felt a bit underhanded—after all, Mr. Qin was an elder—Qin Su had laid it all out, and he couldn't let his close buddy down.

Qin Su took a sip of her now-cold tea and discussed the plan with Pan Hao. She would keep an eye on her dad, Qin Guangjun, while Pan Hao would find someone to follow Meng Lili. If the two ever met up, they'd catch them in the act.

Qin Su shook her head slightly. "We can't make a big scene right now. First, I don't want to upset my mom, and second, we can't push them into a divorce. If we can settle this quietly, we should."

"How do we settle it quietly?" Pan Hao asked, curious.
