C6 He Was Vicious
Qin Su sneered, "Divorce is out of the question. If we go through the normal process, my dad would lose half of everything. Why should he give it all to that mistress? Even if it comes to divorce, he should leave with nothing!"
Pann Hao shivered, breaking into a cold sweat. This was intense. Women can be fierce when they want to be, cutting ties without a second thought!
"Well, I think... maybe Mr. Qin deserves another chance. You know what they say, admitting a mistake is the first step to making things right. Besides, a divorce wouldn't be good for you or your mom."
For the first time, Pann Hao felt like the older one, offering heartfelt advice. Usually, it was Qin Su who had the upper hand.
He remembered thinking that it's better to mend a family than break one apart. Wasn't that something his grandma used to say?
Qin Su eyed Pann Hao skeptically. It didn't sound like him at all. He'd always been a bit of a troublemaker, not one for moral lectures.
Still, Qin Su couldn't completely dismiss what Pann Hao said. She had considered it herself. If there was a chance to fix things, she wouldn't want to burn bridges. But it all depended on her dad, Qin Guangjun, and whether there was any hope left.
Qin Su quietly sipped her tea without saying a word. Pann Hao took a sip as well, unsure of what to say to comfort her. If he were in her shoes, he definitely wouldn't handle it as well as Qin Su did. She had a plan for everything, showing just how meticulous she was.
During this silent moment, neither of them noticed Gao Yan walking by on the sidewalk across the street after school, catching sight of the scene inside.
"Gao Yan, what are you staring at?"
Gao Yan was so engrossed that he almost walked into a bus stop pole. His friend teased him, snapping him back to reality. Gao Yan shook his head with a charming smile, "Nothing, let's go. Weren't we going to play pool? Let's get moving."
After playing pool with his buddies, Gao Yan returned home at the same time as his dad, Gao Haifeng. His mom, Lee Xiumei, came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on her apron, and smiled, "Oh, you two are back at the same time? What a coincidence. Come on, dinner's ready."
After dinner, Gao Yan went to his room to study while his parents watched TV in the living room. Their conversation occasionally drifted to Qin Su. Lee Xiumei had always been fond of Qin Su, having only one son, Gao Yan, and no daughter. She had a special affection for the girl she had watched grow up.
"A few days ago, that girl from the Qin family came over for tutoring with Gao Yan. She used to avoid him, but she's changed a lot recently," Lee Xiumei remarked with a click of her tongue.
If Gao Haifeng didn't know what his wife was up to, he'd have wasted all these years.
"Don't go stirring things up. The kids are still young. This isn't the old days where arranged marriages were a thing. Don't mess around and end up making our son unhappy."
Lee Xiumei pouted. They had arranged a childhood engagement for the kids, so how was that messing around?
Before long, the conversation shifted to Qin Su's dad, Qin Guangjun. Lee Xiumei's brow furrowed as she remembered something.
"Hey, let me tell you something."
"What is it?"
"Last month, when I went to the mall with Mrs. Lin from next door, I think I saw Qin Guangjun with a woman heading into a hotel. At the time, I thought maybe I was mistaken. He doesn't seem like that kind of guy, does he?"
Gao Haifeng smacked his lips thoughtfully and gave Lee Xiumei a meaningful look.
"Whether you saw right or not, keep this to yourself. Don't mention it anywhere. Whether it's true or not, it's not our business to get involved. We don't want to cause trouble for their family."
