C2 Deceive the Corpse 2

"Stop yelling, or I'll make you regret it!" Fann Jian snarled, gripping Yu'e's collar, his fist poised to strike.

"Please, don't hit her. I'm begging you," Jianmin pleaded, his face bruised and swollen, holding onto Fann Jian's arm, terrified that his rock-hard fist might actually land on his wife.

"Jianmin, don't worry about me. What are you standing there for? Open the coffin, quickly! If we wait too long, the child might suffocate," Yu'e shouted urgently at her husband, showing no fear of Fann Jian.

Jianmin was a timid man, often ridiculed by the villagers for not having children. Over time, he became quiet and withdrawn, lacking the courage to stand up to others. After an incident a few years back, he was even less inclined to confront anyone. In this critical moment, overwhelmed by panic and fear, he was at a loss.

The person inside the coffin was still crying for help. Thinking of his daughter, Jianmin gritted his teeth, released Fann Jian's arm, and hurriedly picked up a shovel from the ground, ready to pry open the coffin.

"Jianmin, if your daughter is really coming back to life, and something happens to the villagers because of it, can you bear that responsibility?" Fann Jian warned, a calculating glint in his fierce eyes, wary of overstepping and drawing suspicion.

Some of the bolder young men who had come to help with the burial began to murmur. They recalled a story about an old woman who had seemingly come back to life during her burial. After she was released, a series of deaths followed in the village. Only after she passed away did peace return. This tale was often used by adults to scare disobedient children.

Now, what seemed like an ordinary incident was escalating into something eerie and supernatural.

"You're full of it. We'll see soon enough if it's a person or a ghost."

Liu Yu'e spat at Fann Jian and grabbed a shovel from the ground, ignoring others trying to stop her, and wedged it into the coffin's seam. Faang Jianmin saw what she was doing and helped her with all his strength.

Fann Jian was furious, kicking the couple away and attacking them with punches and kicks. Yesterday was supposed to be his wedding day. Among the nearby villages, Faang Xinrann was the only one he had his eye on. He knew the Faang family was dirt poor and couldn't repay their debts, so he figured marrying Faang Xinrann would be a win for him.

But who would have thought that girl had her heart set elsewhere and was planning to run away with her lover? Thinking about it made Fann Jian's blood boil.

He grabbed the shovel, as if driven by some deep-seated grudge, and swung it at the elderly couple still struggling to get up from the ground. Before the shovel could land, someone kicked Fann Jian from behind, sending him face-first into the dirt.

When Fann Jian got up, his mouth and nose were scraped, and he tasted a mix of dirt and blood, grimacing in pain.

"Who the hell dared to kick me from behind? I'll break your damn legs," he shouted, wiping the dirt from his face. Turning around, he froze at the sight of a tall figure standing before him, his mouth twitching.

"Guo Shaoqiang," Fann Jian growled with hatred.

Guo Shaoqiang stood like a fortress, his strong, tall frame exuding authority. His dark face was intense, eyes sharp, with a high nose and tightly pressed lips. He stared at Fann Jian with a cold, fearless expression, radiating an aura that warned others to stay away. Ignoring Fann Jian's threats, he bent down, picked up the shovel, and silently wedged it into the coffin seam.

With a sharp crack, the coffin lid split and fell to the side.
