C5 I will Kill You!

Last night's events were still fresh in her mind. Fann Jian was so angry he was practically fuming, but he knew that if his attempted murder got to the police, it would be a mess. After some thought, his anger subsided a bit.

"We've already had the wedding feast, and now you want a divorce? On what grounds?"

Divorce was possible, but at least let him sleep on it first.

Faang Xinrann found it amusing. Since when did a half-eaten wedding feast make a marriage? What law was that?

She was secretly relieved she hadn't gotten the marriage certificate first. If she had, she'd have nowhere to cry.

"Because I'm Faang Xinrann, and I'm not afraid of anything."

The villagers watching nearby saw the tragedy turn into a farce and started gossiping.

Woman A: "Did you hear? They say that Third Miss from the Faang family was secretly involved with Branch Secretary Lee's son. Maybe Fann Jian found out on their wedding night that she wasn't as innocent as he thought, and that's why he lashed out."

Woman B: "Exactly. That girl has always had a seductive face, with a full chest and a curvy figure. Her waist is as slim as a willow branch. And those eyes, like a fox's—who wouldn't be tempted? It's obvious she cheated on Fann Jian, and if she goes back to the Fann family, her life will be tough."

Woman C: "Fann Jian is known for being a troublemaker, and his father, Branch Secretary Fann, isn't easy to deal with either. I doubt this will be resolved anytime soon."

These words naturally reached Faang Xinrann's ears, but right now, she just wanted to sever ties with the thug in front of her.

After being beaten up last night, the pain in her body was becoming more pronounced. She feared that if Fann Jian dragged this out, her resolve would weaken.

"Are you done gossiping? Don't you have work to do?"

Suddenly, a deep, resonant, and rugged voice broke through the air. Xinrann turned her head to see Shaoqiang, his expression cold, his lips barely moving as his icy gaze swept over the onlookers. Realizing they needed to get back to work, the crowd quickly dispersed.

Shaoqiang's presence was as chilling as a February frost, sending a shiver down Xinrann's spine. Memories flooded her mind. He was her neighbor, a former soldier with a reputation as tarnished as her own. At twenty-eight, he had already been married three times. The village elders whispered that his wives had all died mysteriously, and any woman who married him would meet the same fate. The village girls avoided him, and Xinrann was no exception. Fear prickled her skin, making her scalp tingle with unease.

"Need a ride to the police station? I can take you," Shaoqiang offered, stepping toward her. The fear rooted deep within Xinrann made her knees weak. Shaoqiang's gaze was fixed intently on Fann Jian, who was glaring back, unable to voice his anger. Everyone knew Shaoqiang could take down a wild boar with his bare hands; no one dared to cross him.

Fann Jian, still shaken, reluctantly agreed to back down for now. He planned to confront Xinrann later, confident she would eventually have to yield if she couldn't repay the money.

"Xinrann, you're something else. It's bad enough you're involved with Lee Chang'an, but now you're cozying up to Shaoqiang, who's buried three wives. You think you're clever, huh? Well, I don't want anything to do with damaged goods like you. I'm telling you, pay back the $150 in three days, not a cent less, or I'll tear your house apart."

Fann Jian, realizing he couldn't outmatch Guo Shaoqiang, angrily pointed at Faang Xinrann and threatened, "You better stop talking nonsense, or I'll make you regret it."
