C11 Chu Qingqiu Came to the Door

Feng Changge chuckled inwardly, finally unable to hold back. Thankfully, this Chu Qingqiu had some sense, and her words hadn't been wasted. She glanced at Xiao Yan, "So, how does it feel to have a grandchild on the way? Are you bursting with joy?"

The matriarch maintained her composure, even in this situation, her tone still kind. "Young lady, you can't just waltz into the Phoenix Duke Mansion with mere words. Don't lie. While I'm still willing to talk calmly, you should leave."

"Gui San! What are you standing there for? Escort her out," Xiao Yan added, worried that the mansion's reputation would be tarnished if they didn't act.

"Madam! If you don't believe me, you can have a doctor examine me. I swear I'm telling the truth!" Chu Qingqiu struggled, casting a glance at Feng Changxuan, who sat silently, a stark contrast to the man who had been so affectionate with her just days before.

"Wait." Mr. Su, who had been watching quietly, finally spoke up.

"Madam, my daughter is my pride and joy, and I won't allow her to be wronged. Now..." Mr. Su hesitated, looking at Chu Qingqiu, who was about to be dragged out. "This young lady claims she's carrying the second son's child. This matter concerns the family line and can't be brushed aside. Besides, it's only fair to my daughter."

The matriarch hesitated, her sharp gaze landing on the timid Feng Changxuan. She knew this issue needed resolving. She relented, "Gui San, call the doctor."

Soon, Gui San returned with Dr. Zhao to the main hall. The matriarch gestured, and Dr. Zhao immediately went to Chu Qingqiu's side to check her pulse. After a while, his face lit up with a smile, and he quickly knelt before Mrs. Jin to report, "Madam, this young lady is indeed pregnant, and it's a boy."

“Is it a boy?!” Xiao Yan exclaimed with a mix of surprise and delight. Indeed, it was both shocking and joyous. Joyous because she was going to have a grandson so soon, and shocking because this grandson was coming from a woman of questionable repute.

“What should we do, Your Grace?” Mrs. Su, who had been silent for a while, finally spoke up, casting a disapproving glance at Xiao Yan.

Xiao Yan felt a surge of anger. Mrs. Su was clearly trying to embarrass her. She turned to Chu Qingqiu and demanded, “Is this child really Changxuan’s? I must warn you, deceiving an official is a serious crime, and you, young lady, cannot afford the consequences!”

“Your Grace, I wouldn’t dare lie! Every word I speak is the truth. If there’s even a hint of falsehood, may I be struck down!”

“Why should I believe you?”

“Because of this!” Chu Qingqiu declared, tossing a piece of red jade before them. It was a top-quality gem, once bestowed by the emperor upon Feng Yanting for his military achievements. Feng Yanting, doting on Feng Changxuan, had it intricately carved and gifted it to him. Everyone in the household knew it was Feng Changxuan’s personal item. Now, seeing such an important object in the hands of a woman of ill repute, everything became clear.

Feng Changge watched the scene unfold, finding it both amusing and fascinating.

“That red jade... isn’t that our brother’s personal item?! No wonder he hasn’t worn it for so long... he gave it to his beloved,” Feng Changge remarked, casting a sly smile at Feng Changxuan, who was visibly uncomfortable.

Seeing the usually confident Feng Changxuan in such an awkward position was immensely satisfying for Feng Changge. How does it feel, dear brother? Not so pleasant, is it?

Feng Changge narrowed her eyes, watching with a playful glint.

As the red jade lay there, Mr. Su, sitting nearby, slammed his porcelain teacup onto the lacquered wooden table in anger. “Everything is out in the open now! You people have deceived my Su family, expecting my daughter to share a husband with a woman of such low standing?!”

"Sir, sir, this..." Xiao Yan was getting anxious. Her golden boy had gotten himself into serious trouble. "Changxuan, say something! Why are you just standing there?"

"I..." Feng Changxuan hesitated, unable to explain. There was nothing he could say to defend himself; the truth was plain for everyone to see.

"What on earth is going on here?" A commanding, deep voice suddenly echoed from outside the hall.

Feng Changge's heart tightened at the sound. She turned to see who had arrived—it was Feng Yanting.

She had been avoiding Feng Yanting for days. Her resentment toward him had only grown stronger since her rebirth. His blatant favoritism and indulgence toward Feng Chang'an were things she could never hope to receive. Even a hint of fatherly affection was a distant dream for Feng Changge.

When Feng Yanting entered the room, he glanced briefly at Feng Changge sitting on the side before turning his attention to Feng Chang'an and Xiao Yan.

"I heard a commotion in the main hall as soon as I entered the mansion. Weren't we supposed to be hosting Mr. Su? What kind of drama is this?" Feng Yanting asked Xiao Yan, who stood beside him, visibly flustered.

"It's Changxuan, he has some personal matters... a few..." Xiao Yan's response was vague. She didn't dare to speak the full truth in front of Feng Yanting, knowing that if she did, Feng Changxuan wouldn't escape a severe punishment tonight.
