C17 Husband Coaxing

As the elevator doors opened, Niannian was surprised to see Chenhan waiting for her.

"Chenhan~ sob..."

Without hesitation, she threw herself into his arms. The calm facade she had been maintaining shattered instantly.

Chenhan, a bit flustered, tried to comfort her, "It's okay now. I'm here, don't be scared."

"Qiao Hui was bullied by some bad people. I didn't know what to do, and I couldn't find you. I was so scared, sob..."

Crying in his embrace, she looked like a picture of sorrow. In truth, after calling Han Hao, she wasn't that frightened anymore. Her tears now were more to tug at Chenhan's heartstrings, to divert his attention. She worried he might ask how she knew Han Hao, and she wasn't ready to explain that yet.

In her previous life, she first met Chenhan's friends at their engagement party. She hadn't met them yet in this life, so she shouldn't know them at all.

"It's my fault for missing your call. It won't happen again. Don't cry, okay?"

Her tears were breaking Chenhan's heart. He wasn't sure how to console her, so he gently patted her back, soothing her like a child.

"What about Qiao Hui and Lyi Yang? How are they now?"

Niannian secretly breathed a sigh of relief. As long as he didn't ask for now, she could buy some time to calm down and come up with a reasonable explanation.

Fu Chenhan gently wiped the tears from her cheeks and comforted her softly, "Zhiyu and Mu Bai have already taken care of it. With Mu Bai here, you don't need to worry."

"You called Mu Bai over? Are they hurt? Is it serious? Where are they now?"

The moment she heard Mu Bai was involved, she lost her composure. She knew Mu Bai was an exceptional doctor who rarely intervened unless it was serious. If he was called, it must be bad.

"Don't worry, I'll take you to see them," Chenhan quickly reassured her as she seemed on the verge of tears again.

Niannian silently prayed they were okay, feeling guilty for not having taken precautions to protect Qiao Hui, despite knowing what had happened in the past.

When Niannian saw Lyi Yang, he was lying on the bed, covered in blood. Her heart clenched painfully, and she bit her lip hard as she walked toward him.

"How... how is he?" Her voice trembled uncontrollably.

Mu Bai lazily explained, "He's fine, just knocked out."

"Fine? But all that blood..."

"It's not his."

"Thank goodness."

Niannian let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding and nearly collapsed to the floor. Fortunately, Chenhan was quick and caught her in his arms.

Holding the pale-faced woman in his arms, Fu Chenhan felt a deep pang of concern. He turned to Mu Bai and sharply reprimanded, "Are you looking for trouble?"

"How is this my fault? I didn't even..." Mu Bai trailed off, realizing Fu Chenhan was genuinely upset.

"Where's Qiao Hui? How is she?" Shi Niannian asked, her anxiety returning when she didn't see Qiao Hui in the room.

"She's fine. She's resting in another room. She was a bit shaken up, but a nap will do her good."

"Thank goodness," Shi Niannian sighed in relief. It seemed Lyi Yang had managed to buy some time, and Han Hao's security team arrived just in time. What puzzled her was why Qiao Hui was still working at Caesar Palace tonight, even after receiving the money.

Noticing Shi Niannian's uneasy expression, Fu Chenhan gently asked, "Do you want me to go with you to check on her?"
