C1 Freak Horse
That day, the night was particularly dark; it was as if the darkness was out on a hunt. That day, even the shimmering moon seemed helpless, trying its best to keep the darkness at bay.
Under the starless sky, a sobbing woman could be seen holding a baby. As her tears repeatedly struck the baby, she said, “W-why? Why did you have to be born?”
The baby didn’t reply; it just lay in her hands as she cried her heart out. After a while, she stood up from the ground, embraced her swaddled baby, and walked out step by step. Then, she handed the child to a man in white outside the door. “Qingfeng, my child and I are counting on you!”
Qingfeng knelt on one knee and said, “Miss, don’t worry. I will not stop until I’ve settled him down peacefully.”
Qingfeng took the child; seconds later, he was nowhere to be seen.
All this while, the baby didn’t breathe once, his chest didn’t move up and down, and he didn’t open his eyes. But suddenly, he opened his deep purple eyes and took in a rugged, weak breath. There was a certain devilish charm in his amethyst eyes, but they were utterly devoid of emotions.
The baby frowned as if he wanted to say something, but he only made childish gurgling sounds. The baby struggled for a long time before he finally stretched his fair and tender arm out of the tightly wrapped blanket. Then, a volley of emotions flooded his face. After all, who could tell him what had happened?
‘What?! Wasn’t I dead? Didn’t that fucker kill me on the alter? What’s going on here? And why the hell do I have baby arms?! This doesn’t make sense. Heavens, this isn’t a joke, right? Someone! Tell me what’s going on! Oh, wait. Was I reborn? If yes, why do I still have the memories of my past life?’
He was the great Demon King before; now, he was a weak baby. How humiliating. He was speechless. He did not know how to express all the complicated feelings he was experiencing. After all, his anger somehow turned into cute childish giggles every time he opened his mouth.
However, Ao Satian regained his calm soon. Now that he had reincarnated, he had to accept the truth. He wondered if he could meet that guy again. For now, Ao Satian ignored the baby him’s dramatic life and thoroughly examined his new body. Although he had detonated his spiritual core and lost his cultivation base, he still had his mighty soul.
After his examination, he concluded that his current physique was average at best. The baby him’s physique was nowhere near as good as the Devil Clan’s innate supreme physique. However, the baby him’s talent wasn’t half bad, genius even. He wondered why the parents of such a genius would abandon him. Then again, it wasn’t as if he cared about some mortal drama. After all, they all had the same old reason and ending: there were some difficulties, so they couldn't stay together and blah, blah, blah…
In his first life, his parents died, so orphan. In his second life, they abandoned him, so orphan again. He was the Demon King, but even he couldn’t help but feel that the heavens had some beef with him. In his past life, he had dabbled a bit in fortune-telling. Using that, he confirmed that he was indeed correct and the baby him’s parents’ weren’t dead. They had simply abandoned him because they thought it was the only way. Typical.
This was the shallow theory of fate that Ao Satian had learned for that person. He could not reach the level of a Diviner, but it didn’t matter since he knew that the baby him’s parents were still around. In this case, he could at least meet them again in the future. Maybe, this time around, he could feel the so-called familial warmth.
Suddenly, he felt a wave of hunger, so Ao Satian decided to get up and make some food. Normally, something like making a simple Pb&J sandwich wouldn’t stump him, but... He didn’t consider that he was no longer Devil Clan’s monarch who controlled everything. He was just a little baby
Satian tried his best for a long time, but his body didn’t move at all. Suddenly, he wailed in his heart. Was he going to starve to death? That would be too embarrassing!
Then, Satian felt something moist on his face. Satian looked at the source and then his baby eyes went wide. It was a magical creature with eyes as big as copper bells.
‘Is that a fuckin’ unicorn?!’
The magical creature opened its mouth and rushed toward Satian, shocking the Demon King out of him. In his book, being gobbled up by some freak horse with a carrot on its head was no better than starving to death.
Satian could never accept such a fate. He focused his mind, and his deep purple eyes flashed with a strange light. The magical creature was suddenly stunned and then fell beside Satian. Satian heaved a sigh of relief; then, he felt his vision go black.
