C13 Sleep with Me for a While!
"They're a real pair of heartless snakes. I'll bribe the Grim Reaper to cut your time short. Just wait for it, you're both doomed! Ha ha ha! I'll be back tonight, so if you dare, try not to sleep."
Qiao Mo made a face, looking eerie under the greenish light. She waved the snake around their necks, scaring them out of their wits until they fainted.
Qiao Mo shrugged, grabbed the recorder and the mini camera from the wall, picked up the lamp by the door, and walked out.
As she left the room, Zhong Ziheng emerged from the shadows with a snake bag. "Was it fun?"
"Yeah, but not enough. If I scare them every night, they'll probably go crazy soon."
Qiao Mo released the snake into the white bag, and Zhong Ziheng tied it shut.
"Next time, don't use this snake as a prop. You're going to wear it out."
"Who else should I use? It almost bit me once, nearly killed me."
Zhong Ziheng chuckled, "I thought you were a bit slow when we were on the island, but you were just pretending. Mr. Chi sure knows how to read people."
"Did he know from the start that I was set up?"
"Come on, Mr. Chi's sharp. As soon as he got your info, he said you were framed."
Back then, when Zhong Ziheng handed over Qiao Mo's background to Gu Chi, he couldn't help but mention how tough her life had been and asked him not to give her a hard time.
Gu Chi: "Does she look like someone who gets bullied?"
Qiao Mo returned to Lu Garden at four in the morning. She quietly slipped into the guest room, turned on the wall lamp, and was about to take a shower when the bedroom door was pushed open from the outside.
Startled, Qiao Mo jumped. She'd spent the whole night pretending to be a ghost to scare others, but now someone had managed to scare her.
Gu Chi glanced at her ghostly makeup and chuckled, "Is this how you plan to get revenge?"
"...No, I just wanted to give them a scare," Qiao Mo replied, not at all surprised by Gu Chi's comment. Zhong Ziheng had been with her all night, so of course, Gu Chi would know.
"Not planning to send them to jail?" Gu Chi laughed softly.
"Jail would be too easy. I have no power or influence. At most, they'd be locked up for a couple of days and then released for lack of evidence."
"Don't you have recordings and testimonies?" Gu Chi crossed his arms, a mysterious smile on his face.
Qiao Mo pursed her lips, her expression dark. "It's useless. That doesn't count as evidence. Jail is too lenient. I want to ruin them."
Gu Chi watched her pout. "You? With no power, no influence, and no money?"
"I can earn money. Making money isn't hard."
"Go take a shower."
"Why aren't you asleep yet?"
"I can't sleep. Keep me company after your shower, or I won't let you out next time."
"Why should I keep you company while you sleep?" Qiao Mo crossed her arms protectively over her chest, eyeing him warily.
The two had been getting along peacefully for several days, and Qiao Mo thought Gu Chi might have forgotten about her.
After finishing her shower, Qiao Mo walked out to find Gu Chi sprawled comfortably on the bed, eyes closed.
Standing at the bedside, Qiao Mo looked at him. "Are you asleep? Go back to your own room. You're taking up my bed, where am I supposed to sleep?"
Gu Chi didn't respond. Qiao Mo muttered, "Oh, right, this is your house. Sleep well, sir." She turned off the light and lay down on the floor.
"Taking away what they care about most is the greatest revenge. A slow cut hurts more than a quick one," a pleasant voice murmured just as Qiao Mo was about to fall asleep.
Her eyes snapped open.
