C14 Be My Personal Assistant!

"How does he know what I'm thinking? Is he a mind reader or something?"

"Why are you helping me?" Qiao Mo asked, looking at the silhouette of the man on the bed.

Without waiting for a response, she lay down on the carpet and soon fell asleep. In the darkness, Gu Chi listened to her steady, gentle breathing. His gaze fell on the small figure on the floor. He picked up a thin blanket from the bed and covered her with it. Before long, he drifted off to sleep as well.

Qiao Mo found Gu Chi's behavior towards her quite strange. It had been several days since they returned from the island, and he seemed very busy. She rarely saw him around Lu Garden, and when she did, he never mentioned what he wanted her to do or asked about her plans. However, he didn't allow her to leave Lu Garden freely.

Curious, Qiao Mo secretly approached Zhong Ziheng. "Mr. Zhong, what's young master Gu so busy with? I hardly ever see him, and why won't he let me go out?"

"How should I know? Aren't you his girlfriend?"

"How am I his girlfriend? You're his subordinate, shouldn't you know? Young master Gu is into..." Qiao Mo leaned closer to Zhong Ziheng and whispered, "guys."

"All I know is that you two have slept together!"

Qiao Mo wanted to shout at Zhong Ziheng: "Slept together my foot! That's nonsense!"

That evening, Qiao Mo was lying on the sofa, bored and watching TV, when she heard Mr. Da's voice outside, "Young master, you're back."

"Yeah," came the man's lazy voice.

Qiao Mo quickly turned off the TV, sat up on the couch, adjusted her clothes, and looked toward the door.

Gu Chi appeared at the entrance, holding a bottle, and headed straight upstairs without a glance.

Qiao Mo sat on the couch for a moment, then went to the kitchen. She picked up a bowl of red bean and lotus seed soup from the pot, reheated a cup of milk, placed them on a tray, and carried it upstairs.

She knocked on the study door and, upon hearing "Come in," she pushed it open.

Gu Chi was seated behind his desk, focused intently on his computer with a serious expression.

Qiao Mo set the milk and soup on the table in front of him and softly said, "Have some first."

Gu Chi glanced at her, drank the soup, and returned his attention to the computer.

Qiao Mo cleared her throat gently.

"What's up?" Gu Chi asked without looking at her, his hand still on the mouse.

"Um, Gu... Mr. Gu, I want to go home."

"What for?"

Qiao Mo replied calmly, "I miss my grandpa. I also need to sort out my ID, bank card, and phone. Plus, I should get back to school. I can't just stay here forever."

Gu Chi finally shifted his gaze from the screen, his deep eyes meeting hers. "What are your plans next?" he asked.

"Study."

"Alright, I have just one condition: you must come back to Lu Garden every night and be my personal assistant."

Personal assistant? What kind of nonsense is that?

Qiao Mo looked at Gu Chi suspiciously and asked, "Why?"

Gu Chi stared steadily at Qiao Mo. "No particular reason. I just need an assistant, and you seem like a good fit."

Ridiculous!

Qiao Mo's face turned bright red as she paced back and forth in front of Gu Chi. "Young master Gu, I can't do anything. I'm terrible at housework and I don't like tidying up. You have plenty of staff at Lu Garden. What do you need me for?"

"Alright then, if being an assistant doesn't appeal to you, how about being my woman? Keep me company, have my children. Everyone on the island already thinks we're together anyway."
