Calm freezing air swept through my open window and swept hard on my face. My eyes remained blank as the air stung into them.

I was putting on my favorite dark plain coat over a dark shirt and pants.

The door opened and Mother walked into the room. I can tell by her jittery voice that she was extremely happy.
