C5 The Blue Pendant

Dean POV

The next morning when I woke I noticed that the girl was missing. I tried to search for her in the house but she was nowhere to be found.

When I got out I began to ask people if they saw her go somewhere.

I began to get thoughts like, what if the villagers found that she was behind the escape of the wolf, did they give her to the king to save the village.

After a few minutes I noticed that she was feeding sweet apples to max.

I approached her, "I was searching for you",I said.

"Oh I am sorry I woke up early,I didn't want to disturb your sleep, you were sleeping so peacefully", she replied.

"Ok fine, I wanted to ask you something really very important", I said.

"Ok what is is it?", She asked.

"I know that you set the wolf free last night, but how did you break the lock, it is the strongest lock?. I asked.

"I'm so sorry Dean, I couldn't control myself from not freeing the wolf, if I would not free it last night I would have a regret of not saving it my whole life!!", She said with tears in her eyes.

"I trust you but what if the villagers find out about this?, they might kill you or even worse offer you to the king", I said.

"But why do the villagers want to offer the wolf to the king?", She asked

"The king wants the wolf maybe it's skin, the main reason is still a mystery, if we don't offer a wolve every month,the king will kill a family from our village, the death is worst, they will peel off the skin of the family when they are still alive, their skin will be peeled till they take their last breath", I said while getting goosebumps on my body. I just want you and the villagers to be safe, Rieka.

"Is there another way to save the village?", She asked.

"No there is no other way, till the king is alive we need to serve him",I said.

After a few seconds we heard the villagers screaming and yelling.

When we approached the villagers, they were crying and weeping.

"The wolf has escaped, tomorrow the king is going to arrive to take his wolf, what are we going to do now?"

"We can't let our families die like this"

"If we don't get a wolf today we will lose a family from our village"

"All of you get the weapons ready and the traps too, we are going hunting, we will do our best, do the wolves, just pray that we get one.

If we don't have the wolf by tomorrow, something really bad will be waiting for us tomorrow", the head said.

I helped them put the liquid on the ends of the arrow and helped them pack them.

The girl watched us from a distance holding her chest. I know she is worried but I can't help it, u had to support the villagers. I couldn't let a family die in my village.

After my parents and grandma's death the village is my only family, I need to stand along with them when they are in need.

The villagers then left for the hunt, I wished them luck and hugged them.

Rieka POV

When I woke up I saw that Dean was sleeping peacefully, I didn't want to disturb his peaceful sleep so I moved quietly, prepared breakfast for him, cleaned his house by dusting and sweeping. I took a few sweet apples along with me and headed towards the stable where max was resting.

I gave him the sweet apples, Max is a very friendly and loving horse.

He rubbed his head on my face and I kissed him on his head.

His colour was white as snow and he had long and beautiful hair.

After a few minutes Dean walked towards me.

I wished him good morning, he wished me too.

He then said that he wanted to say something very important to me.

I asked him what happened, he then told me that he had witnessed what I had done last night. I know there are many questions going on in his head, but I couldn't answer his questions, as I myself don't know.

I asked him to forgive me as I couldn't resist myself from saving the wolf.

Dean then said something that made my heart melt.

He told me that he trusted me and wanted me to be safe.

At that moment I wanted to give Dean a tight hug but I controlled myself.

We then heard a scream when we followed the voice it was from the villagers who were weeping and crying on the escape of the wolf.

The villagers got ready for the hunt.

I stood from a distance and observed that Dean was helping the villagers with packing of the weapons and traps.

He was applying a liquid on the sharp edges of the arrow, the women were hugging their husbands, when all of this was happening I felt a bad vibe.

After a few minutes the villagers left for the hunt, Dean approached me and asked me to come along as he wanted to show me something.

He took me to a place which was his secret place. There was a tree hole there.

"This is my hiding spot, come along with me inside",he said.

When I entered inside he lit the lantern and told me to be seated.

From his pocket he removed a necklace which had a blue charm on it.

"This belongs to you, when I found you near the river unconscious I found this near your body, take it", he said, placing the pendant on my palm.

When I touched this pendant I felt something happen to me.
