C8 The Unholy Fire

DEAN POV

The next morning I woke up next to Rieka holding me tight. I gave a kiss on her forehead and woke her up.

"Wake up , it's morning", I said, giving her a slight shake.

"Good morning Dean", she replied, kissing me on my cheeks.

The villagers were waiting for the king to arrive, tears rolling down from every villagers cheeks, the whole atmosphere was filled with terror.

We all knew what was coming ahead of us.

It was 9 in the morning, from a distance we heard the soldiers marching towards our

Village. The soldiers announced while beating the drum

"The king will arrive in a few minutes, the king ordered that the wolve which will be presented today for the king should be kept ready",saying this the soldiers stepped aside so that the king could enter inside.

After a few minutes the king arrived on his chariot.

Rieka and I stood in distance, watching the king arrive. All of the villagers bowed below the king.

"Place my wolf in front of me", the king said with a stern voice.

"Your majesty we lost the wolf, the wolf escaped, please give us some more time. We will present the wolf in front of you but we just need some time",the head said.

"I have already said my words, if there are no wolves present in front of me, I'm afraid that one family needs to die today, I made myself clear",the king said with a cold voice.

One soldier came ahead and said,

"The unholy fire will decide which family will be sacrificed today, present the unholy fire!!",

The commander ordered his soldier.

The unholy fire was presented in front of our villagers.

"What is the unholy fire?",Rieka asked.

"It is the fire which will decide which family will be sacrificed, it decides which family will be sacrificed today because the fire will consume the souls, and trap it inside it forever", I replied.

"The king is so cruel",she replied.

"I know and I cannot let this happen",I said.

"No please don't think anything stupid, you will loose your life Dean",

"The villagers are my family and I need to save them. I can't let anyone die Rieka, if anything happens to me today, promise me you will take care of Max and the villagers",I said.

"I can't afford to lose you Dean, there will be some other way please Dean don't do this",she said with tears in her eyes.

I pulled towards me and kissed her lips, her lips were so soft, it tasted so good. We locked our lips, and kissed passionately.

"I love you Rieka", I said, holding her hands.

"I love you too Dean".

Rieka POV

I woke up with a kiss from Dean, he wished me good morning and I wished him back.

It was now time for the king to arrive.

I was holding Dean's hand very tight.

We stood at a distance, and watched what was going on.

The villagers were holding each other's hands. After a few minutes the soldiers arrived.

They ordered the villagers to keep the wolf ready. "They can't harm me", Dean said.

"I don't have a family, as my parents and grandma are dead, they were my family.

I am just an offen".

"The king can only sacrifice a family", he said.

After a few minutes the king arrived, I couldn't see the face of the king as I was standing in the distance.

But the voice seemed familiar, I couldn't remember where I had heard this voice.

It seemed so wicked.

With every word of the king, anger was arising inside me.

When Dean said he will fight against the king I felt very proud of him but at the same time I was afraid.

I didn't want to lose him, I started to fall in love with Dean, I started to have feelings for him.

I couldn't let anything happen to my love.

Dean wiped my tears, and pulled me towards him.

He pressed his lips against mine. We kissed for a few seconds and it felt like heaven.

I hugged him tight. He then said something which made my heart melt.

He said that he loved me.

He kissed my hand and headed in front of the king and I followed him back.
