C5 Life Your Life Is Saved!

In a teahouse not far from the city gate, two distinguished gentlemen sat in a private room, observing the scene unfolding at the gate. One was dressed in black, exuding a cold, noble demeanor; the other wore white, with a carefree and charming air. Despite their contrasting styles, they shared the table seamlessly.

"Your princess is quite something... does she really fancy someone like Xiao Jing'an?" the man in white mused, taking a swig directly from a wine jug, his actions bold yet captivating.

"She doesn't," replied the man in black, none other than the North King, Bei Tianjiao. By rights, he should have been stationed in the northern region, not in the capital, yet here he was, witnessing the scandal of Chu Jiuge's elopement.

"So, she doesn't like Xiao Jing'an, or is she not your princess anymore?" the man in white teased, casting glances toward the city gate where Chu Jiuge was.

Don't get it wrong; he enjoyed a good spectacle but only if it was worth his while. His eyes were on the gate, waiting for someone he anticipated.

"You talk too much," Bei Tianjiao shot back, clearly not in the mood for conversation.

"Just stating facts. The decree is out. Whether you like it or not, you have to marry her," the man in white continued, unfazed by the danger of provoking him.

"I've lost eight fiancées already; one more won't matter," Bei Tianjiao retorted. He wasn't a trash collector, after all. The royal family seemed to think they could dump unwanted women on him, as if the title of North King's wife was worth so little.

"The Yuan and Xiao families are notoriously unreasonable. If she offends them, she won't live to marry you. Such a pity for a young beauty," the man in white remarked, though his eyes betrayed no sympathy.

When he spotted an elderly man with gray hair in the crowd, the man in white no longer had eyes for Chu Jiuge. He stood up abruptly, exclaiming, "Danqing has really come to the capital, Duke, your life is saved!"

With that, the man in white vanished from the elegant room like a gust of wind, while Bei Tianjiao remained still, his gaze fixed on the city gate...

The Wang, Xie, Yuan, and Xiao families are the four major clans of East Forest, their power rivaling the royal family. Chu Jiuge has crossed paths with the eldest daughter of the Yuan family, and unless the North King intervenes personally, she has no chance of survival.

These aristocratic families never play fair. It was Yuen Yunhua who struck first, but Chu Jiuge was unharmed, while Yuen Yunhua ended up injured and disfigured.

Xiao Jing'an didn't waste any words on Chu Jiuge and simply ordered, "Someone, take her back."

At his command, three agile men in gray appeared from nowhere, surrounding Chu Jiuge. "Miss Chu, please come with us."

"What if I refuse?" From her memories, Chu Jiuge knew just how domineering the Wang, Xie, Yuan, and Xiao families could be, and she was well aware of the fate awaiting her if she fell into their hands.

Yet, she didn't regret her earlier actions. Chu Jiuge was never one to back down or stand idly by. If Yuen Yunhua wanted to hit her, should she just stand there and take it?

Did she have "doormat" written on her face?

"If you don't want to die now, come with us. Otherwise, don't blame us for being rude." The three men in gray stepped forward, leaving Chu Jiuge no chance to escape...

"A sting from a wasp, the most venomous of women—how dare a woman like you claim to admire me? It truly disgusts me." Xiao Jing'an, disregarding the decorum of an aristocratic family member, branded Chu Jiuge with the harshest criticism, aiming to ruin her...
