C9 Chapter 9
The urge to pee hit him hard.
“W-what did you do?” Xiao Jing'an shuddered, his body going rigid, too scared to move.
Chu Jiuge had already loosened her grip on him. He could breathe freely now, but his face was even redder than before.
Before, it had been from holding his breath. Now it was from humiliation.
Of course, underneath it all, he was scared too.
He hadn’t taken Chu Jiuge’s words seriously before. How could he, Xiao Jing'an, possibly wet himself in public? But now, he couldn’t be so sure.
He didn’t know what Chu Jiuge had done, but he definitely felt the sudden need to pee.
“That’s not important. What matters is... if I want to, you’ll lose control and pee yourself right here in front of everyone. Young Master Xiao, want to try?” Chu Jiuge’s voice was light and gentle, as soft as a lover’s whisper, almost tender.
But Xiao Jing'an was in no mood to appreciate any of that. Along with the shame and fury burning through him, there was a quiet thread of fear in his heart.
He wasn’t afraid of dying, but he was afraid of disgrace.
If people found out a young heir of the Xiao family had been scared by a woman into wetting himself in public, he wouldn’t just be too ashamed to go on living—he would drag the entire Xiao family’s name through the mud.
“What do you want? Say it!” His own life didn’t matter much, but the family’s honor could not be tarnished.
“Apologize. And then... admit that what happened today was your fault, not mine.” With those words from Xiao Jing'an, she would be safe for now.
Xiao Jing'an might have been afraid of wetting himself in public, but he wanted even less to admit he was wrong. “No way. You wrote me a letter asking me to meet you at the city gate. And now you want me to take the blame? You’ve got to be kidding.”
Chu Jiuge’s words were too quiet for Yuen Yunhua to hear, but she caught Xiao Jing'an’s response clearly enough. “Chu Jiuge, you have no shame. You wrote Jing'an a letter begging him to meet you at the city gate this morning, saying you wanted him to run away with you, and now you want him to take the fall for you? You did it, so own it. A woman like you is not worthy of the North Duke.”
All right, now she knew why Yuen Yunhua had been picking on her. So this was all because of a handsome face.
“You... how dare you! Chu Jiuge, Jing’an is not someone you get to covet. Don’t write to him again. Those letters of yours... you had the nerve to write them, but I couldn’t even bear to read them.”
The sons of great families might look carefree and charming, dressed in fine clothes and living as they pleased, but...
They still had duties they were expected to fulfill, marriage among them.
“What did I write that was so unbearable to read? Besides, even if I did write something, what does that have to do with you? I wasn’t writing to you.” Chu Jiuge narrowed her eyes and thought for a moment, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t remember the original owner ever writing to Xiao Jing’an.
The original Chu Jiuge really had felt the slightest bit of affection for Xiao Jing’an, but in Chu Jiuge’s eyes, it was only superficial—nothing more than admiration for a talented, handsome young man.
No need to think too hard about it. Those so-called love letters were obviously part of another setup.
She just didn’t know who was behind it all. One layer led to the next—it really was an impressively tight scheme...
Chu Jiuge let out a soft laugh and didn’t bother explaining that she had never written to Xiao Jing’an. Whoever had planned this had done it too carefully; they were bound to have convincing evidence. Any denial from her would be weak, and no one would believe it.
Chu Jiuge had no interest in wasting time with Yuen Yunhua. She urged Xiao Jing’an once more to make his choice.
Or admit he was wrong and leave?
