C4 CHAPTER FOUR

"Bro, you are crazy, " Ivan yelled from behind as he followed Daniel closer and closer into the forest, constantly looking over his shoulders in hopes that someone would suddenly pop out to stop the two of them from carrying out their stupid idea.

"Look, you can chicken out if you want, but I'm going to take out that bear."Daniel replied, strapping his father's rifle to his side before moving further into the woods.Ivan looked at him for a while before joining him, where he lay at the entrance of the forest.

Ivan joined him, ruffling up the bushes where they lay still. Daniel turned to look at him for a moment before looking over ahead, and then in a whisper, he said"This was the crime scene of the last bear attack."As soon as he heard Daniel's words, Ivan's eyes opened up in shock.

"for real" He meant to scream, but Daniel held his mouth shut before slowly letting go.

"What in the world are we doing here? I'm going home" Ivan added in a hushed tone while trying to leave.But Daniel held him down. "You're not messing this up for me; let's just wait for a few minutes, and I'm sure the bear is going to come back."He said, still holding tightly to Ivan,

"But what is going to bring it here? How are you so sure it's going to come?"Ivan asked before his brain realized what Daniel was going to say.

turning to look at Ivan,eyeballs locked in, "because I'm counting on it tracing our scent."

Shocked, Ivan fought to get up before yelling"The hell are you crazy?"Just then they heard a weird sound coming from behind them and soon a low growl. Then the teens decide to turn slowly to see what was making the sounds.As both of them were trying to figure out the situation, Ivan noticed something.And looking up at Daniel and noticing how scared he was because of how badly he was shivering

"How can you be so scared when you brought us out here?"Ivan yelled But Daniel replied, "I never expected we would actually find anything; the hell is out here."As they stood waiting for the inevitable to happen, they heard"What are you kids doing out here?"It came from behind both of them.Ivan and Daniel both screamed out their lungs before turning to look at who was speaking.Standing in front of them was no one else but the new teacher, Mr. Craig.the history teacher who just got into the school that same day. His eyes looked concerned, but he appeared as calm as possible.Shamefully, the two teens stood up without saying anything.

"Daniel and Ivan, right?"Craig asked

"Yes, but sorry, how do you know our names?Daniel asked.

"I know all my students; you take history class with me, right?"Craig replied"Yeah, but it's just been only one class."Ivan chipped in, making sure not to make eye contact with Crag while looking surprised. "Don't worry, I always do a background checks on my students. Come with me. I'll drop you guys off in my Jeep." He said before leading them out of the woods and taking them to the roadside where his Jeep was packed,Ivan got the shock of his life when he found the same girl he had seen on his way to school inside the Jeep. He looked surprised, but she just stared at him coldly with an expressionless look on her face.

Craig noticed the awkwardness between them and decided to intervene.

"Here is my little sister Jane; we actually live close by to you, Ivan."Okay," Ivan replied.He and Daniel both entered the Jeep; Craig drove them first to Daniel's residence.Next was Ivan's, whose place was close to where Craig lived. At the doorway, Mrs. Willow was so grateful to the teacher for his help, and she asked him to come over for dinner the next day.Ivan just stood emotionless. It was shameful for him to break the rules on the curfew, and causing his mom and dad to worry was something he didn't want, but he needed to do things to look cool so Daniel, who was popular, wouldn't make fun of him.

Ivan settled in that night all the while secretly glad he was going to see Jane tomorrow evening during the dinner.
