C14 Didn't You Not See Me?
Shen Yueyin pressed her lips together, lowering her gaze as she let him clean and bandage her wound. Once he was done, she took the antiseptic and gauze, tears streaming down her face as she tended to his injury. The cut wasn't deep, but it was long. Her tears fell like a broken string of pearls, impossible to stop.
Her unique scent filled the air as her soft hands carefully cleaned the wound with a cotton swab, afraid of causing him pain. A tear landed on the back of his hand, and her flushed little nose tugged at his heartstrings. He wanted to reach out and hold her, but his hand paused in mid-air before he pulled it back, asking, "Why are you crying?"
"Is it any of your business? Weren't you the one who didn't want to see me?"
"..."
Her stubborn demeanor was just as it used to be. Somehow, Jing Si's mood inexplicably lifted, a slight smile playing on his lips as he asked, "Weren't you the one who said we should never meet again?"
"Do you even know what you're talking about?"
Jing Si: "..."
Who's really being unreasonable here?
Seeing him silent, Shen Yueyin wiped her tears with the back of her hand and began wrapping the gauze around his wound. Her little mouth couldn't stop muttering, "Men are so fickle, heartless, heartless..."
He raised an eyebrow at her words, "And what about women?"
"Is it any of your business?" Shen Yueyin pouted, falling silent.
Once everything was in order, she started packing up. Jing Si's gaze casually fell on the small bottle in her hand, and his brow furrowed as he quickly snatched it to take a closer look, asking, "What's this for?"
"Disinfection," Shen Yueyin replied, putting the rest of the items back in the first aid kit.
Yuan, sitting in the passenger seat, glanced at the small bottle and hesitantly asked, "Second Master, should we go to the hospital?"
Jing Si's dark eyes dimmed slightly, "Yeah."
The small bottle was set aside, with the words "Soda Water" written prominently on its label.
The car sped along, and as they got out, Yueyin tugged at Jing Si's sleeve. She waited for him to extend his hand before she leisurely took it and followed him.
Taking small steps behind him, she marveled for the umpteenth time at how long his legs were; he took one stride for every three of hers. She followed him with a steady tap-tap-tap until they reached their destination, where she obediently sat on the edge of the bed, waiting for the examination.
When Jing Si returned after having his wound re-dressed, Yueyin's test results were ready. He glanced at the report with a blank expression and asked coldly, "Memory confusion?"
The doctor, intimidated by his powerful presence, answered respectfully, "Yes, sir. The medication Miss Shen took not only causes short-term unconsciousness but also temporary memory confusion."
Jing Si's dark eyes grew even more intense, like an unfathomable pool of ink, revealing nothing of his thoughts or emotions, instilling a sense of fear and the urge to flee.
"But Miss Shen took a very small dose, so she'll recover quickly," the doctor added dryly, casting a pleading look at Yuan. Seeing Yuan wave him off, the doctor quickly made his exit.
Silence returned.
Yuan handed Jing Si a file, reporting, "Our investigation found that the person who kidnapped Miss Shen is named Kwoo Wenci, a crazed fan of Miss Shen Liang. He was previously reported to the police by Miss Shen Liang for extreme behavior. This time... he likely mistook Miss Shen for Miss Shen Liang."
"Okay." Jing Si uttered a single cold word, not even glancing at the file before tossing it into the trash can.
