C19 Not Dirtying Us We're Still Friends
Just as they entered the building, Lin Yin came over with a cheerful smile, her daughter Lin Anran trailing behind. Lin Yin's gaze flickered between Jing Si and Lin Anran before gently nudging her daughter forward.
"Hello, Second Master," Lin Anran greeted awkwardly, her fresh face adorned with only the lightest touch of makeup.
"Hello," came the curt reply, effectively dampening their enthusiasm.
Lin Yin, seemingly unfazed, led Lin Anran into the lounge. She wasn’t in a rush—after all, there was plenty of time ahead.
...
Shen Yueyin sat in the café, waiting for her friend Lin Qinghuan, idly scrolling through Jing Si’s profile picture on her phone. As Lin Qinghuan arrived, she noticed Yueyin checking the box marked "Hide my moments from this person."
Sitting across from Yueyin, Qinghuan quipped, "Someone who once knew you so intimately can't even see your social media now."
"We're still friends, just not that kind of friends," Yueyin replied with an eye roll, taking a small sip of her coffee.
Qinghuan gave a soft "hmm," her eyes shifting with concern. "Yueyin, are you sure about this? I mean, it’s really..."
She was searching for the right words when she suddenly spotted someone and stood up for a better look. Tapping the table, she said to Yueyin, "Hey, isn't that your mom?"
Realizing her mistake, she quickly corrected herself, "I mean, your stepmom, Zhao Huirong!"
Yueyin immediately looked up and saw Zhao Huirong's retreating figure. She casually followed, phone in hand, and leaned against a wall, watching Zhao Huirong from a distance. From her vantage point, Yueyin could clearly see what Zhao Huirong was doing.
"What exactly do you mean?" Huirong lowered her voice, sounding furious.
The young man standing in front of her had a pale complexion that seemed almost ethereal in the sunlight. He smirked slightly, yanking his hand away from Huirong's grip and retorted, "Is it really so hard for you to give me an explanation?"
"You know I have to..."
"Don't tell me you have to!" he snapped, taking a couple of deep breaths as he glared at Huirong. "I just want to know, when is he going to die?"
Die? Who are they talking about?
Yueyin, overhearing the conversation, glanced at the two of them again. She watched as the man stormed off in anger, with Huirong hurrying after him.
These two have a complicated relationship, Yueyin thought, a slight smile playing on her lips. She casually took out her phone and snapped a few photos.
With thoughts swirling about Huirong and the mysterious man, Yueyin said goodbye to her friend and returned to her family home. Although Ruanruan was still with Jing Si, she knew Ruanruan would be well taken care of.
In the living room, Shen Junheng greeted Yueyin with a warm, fatherly smile, which clearly irked Shen Changqing.
"Yueyin, come here," Shen Junheng said, patting the seat next to him.
Yueyin sweetly called him "Dad," which pleased Shen Junheng and made Changqing's expression sour, much to Yueyin's delight.
"Now that you're the second daughter of the Shen family, you should have your own business. I've decided to give you Lanyuan Woman's Wear as a gift. I'll have everything set in motion in the next few days."
Hearing that Shen Junheng was giving Lanyuan Woman's Wear to Yueyin made Changqing's face turn pale.
"Dad, Lanyuan is the largest subsidiary of the company. Won't this decision cause some concern among the shareholders?"
