C24 Unwanted adventure

NOELLE’S POV

While I pack my bag my mind goes back to my 18th birthday. How much I was praying to get an adventure. Looks like my prayers have been heard but certainly not in the way I was imagining.

Julias comes into my room with a map and puts it on my bed. He points at the sea realm, ''We are here,'' and then points at the bottom of the map, ''And there is where you need to go. There is only one way to get to the under realm and that is through there.''

I look at what he is pointing at what seems to be a big vortex. ''I need to go in the vortex?'' I ask.

Julias grunts, ''Yes you have to jump in the hole in the middle, I have never heard back from someone who has done it. So I don't know where you come out and if you even would survive it.''

He stops for a second, ''Even if you survive, there is nobody that knows a map inside the under realm except dark humans or demons.''

He takes my hand, ''It's a suicide mission Noelle.''

I look into his eyes, ''I have to try Julias, I would never be able to live with myself if I didn't. I love him.''

He hugs me, ''Well then you better hurry.''

He puts a knife into my hands, ''I hope you won't need this.''

I hesitantly take the knife, ''I don't know how to use this. Can't I use my magic?''

Julias gives me a sad smile, ''I am afraid water magic won't do you much good in the under realm. Not even powerful magic like yours.''

My heart sinks a bit in my chest because magic is my only defense at the moment, ''I better go before I change my mind then, at least I still have a stubborn mind that will get me where I need to be. One way or the other.''

Julias smiles, ''That you do have.''

He kisses me on the cheek, ''Until we meet again Noelle.''

He walks away and I whisper, ''Until we meet again.''

I put on black leather pants, a black top, and black boots. My hair I put in a high ponytail and I add some coal to my eyes. 'Maya would definitely not approve of this look. I grab my backpack and head out the door.

When I walk out of the castle I turn around for one last glimpse wondering if I will ever see it again. I decide it's probably better to spare my magic anyway so I saddle up Eowyn and take off. I take out the map and look where I need to go. The vortex seems to be on the right edge of the sea realm. All the villages are built on the left side of the city so I have never gone right. It looks like it's at least a day's ride so I take a deep sigh and take off.

At first, everything is like how I am used to the sea realm but the further right we go the fewer animals and plants. It seems to get quieter, colder, and darker by the hour. I am glad I brought Eowyn so that I don't have to be alone. Something about the silence gives me the creeps. After 6 hours of riding, we start to hear a buzzing sound. I see something big in the distance but I can't tell what it is yet.

My heart starts to pound and I feel shocked when I finally see what it is. It is a massive statue of a reaper with at his feet skeletons of what must have been actual people. In front of the reaper, there is a big vortex in the ground. It just looks like a big black hole and it seems to be the source of the buzzing sound.

I get off Eowyn and take her head into my arms, ''This is where we must part ways, my sweet girl. Thank you for being my friend. You have to go back to safety now.''

I kiss her and want to walk away.

''hihiiwwii,'' Eowyn nags and she bites my shirt so that I can't walk away.

I gently loosen her teeth from my shirt and look her into her eyes, ''I'm sorry.''

Then I blast up a wall of water so that she can't follow me and I jump into the vortex. The last thing I hear is a loud panicked whinny.
