C19 The Board of Directors!

Pei Xinxiao glanced at the delicate watch on her slender wrist and brought the conversation back on track. "It's about time, Dad. Holding the board meeting is more important right now." With that, she turned on her heel, exuding confidence.

"Dad, I thought my second sister didn't have the money to acquire 15% of Pei's shares so quickly, so..."

"Enough. Focus more on your work and keep an eye on the company's activities. I don't want to hear about this again." With that, he turned and walked away.

Zheng Siya stomped her foot in frustration, her pretty face twisted with anger. Pei Xinxiao, mark my words, I won't let you have it easy!

At the meeting, as a shareholder, Pei Xinxiao vetoed all of Vice President Zheng Siya's decisions regarding the old building renovation project, leaving Siya seething with resentment, wishing she could have gotten rid of her earlier.

Casually observing Siya's distorted yet beautiful face, Pei Xinxiao calmly spoke, "What? Does the Vice President have an issue with my veto?"

Zheng Siya took a deep breath, suppressing her irritation, and replied, "Indeed. First, the old building was constructed a hundred years ago and is in terrible condition, right in the city center, severely obstructing traffic. Second, the businesses relying on the old building, like food stalls and clothing shops, don't meet health standards, and the environment is poor. Living here long-term can lead to respiratory issues. Based on these points, I suggest demolishing it completely and building high-rises to create a harmonious living environment."

Pei Xinxiao clapped her hands and slowly stood up. "Indeed, the Vice Director has considered this well. Skyscrapers are certainly impressive. But have you thought about this? Those old houses were built over a hundred years ago, at the end of the 19th century. They hold significant historical value, and the country is advocating for the preservation of cultural heritage. Tearing them down so hastily might not be the best idea."

Her words caused quite a stir. Everyone had been focused on the huge profits from converting the old houses into commercial buildings, without considering their status as protected heritage.

"We could transform the old houses into a tourist attraction. The unique customs and quaint streets would surely draw many visitors." She paused, glancing around the room before continuing, "Building skyscrapers isn't impossible, but don't you think it would make us just like any other city? Imagine working or traveling elsewhere, seeing those unique and beautiful sights, and then remembering how your hometown's historic buildings were forcibly demolished. How frustrating would that be?"

The room erupted in applause.

Pei Zhengjun looked at his daughter with a mix of pride and a touch of melancholy, moved by her words.

After the applause, Xinxiao cast a challenging glance at Vice Director Zheng, whose face was pale and brows furrowed in frustration. With satisfaction, she added, "Vice Director Zheng, when considering things in the future, try not to be so subjective. Think more about others. Otherwise, even if you build skyscrapers, they'll lack any human touch." With that, she left the room, walking out with confidence.

Zheng Siya felt a surge of frustration building up inside her, desperate for an outlet but finding none. She could only watch Xinxiao's retreating figure, clenching her teeth in silent resolve.

"Pei Xinxiao, mark my words. The humiliation you made me endure today will be repaid a thousandfold in the future!"

Seething with anger, Zheng Siya returned home and unleashed her fury on the household staff, her tone harsh and unyielding. Zheng Rulan, unable to stand by any longer, pulled her aside for a stern talk.

"What's gotten into you at home? Don't you realize not all the staff here are loyal to us? Aren't you worried Zhengjun will find out?"

Zheng Siya bit her lip, frustration and helplessness etched on her face.

"Tell me, what happened?"

Zheng Siya recounted the day's events in detail. Hearing her out, Zheng Rulan nodded and made a phone call. After a few minutes, she received the information she needed.

"I asked a friend to look into Pei Xinxiao's activities. It turns out Shen Yunsheng is the one helping her." With that, Zheng Rulan calmly adjusted her clothes and headed upstairs. She knew exactly what needed to be done.

On a warm, sunny afternoon, the café was empty. Zheng Siya, dressed in the latest Chanel and wearing sleek black five-inch heels, strolled in leisurely. She took a seat at table twelve by the window. After waiting for about fifteen minutes, a man arrived, looking slightly disheveled.

He sat across from Siya, bowing respectfully. "Miss Zheng, may I ask why you wanted to meet with me?"

Siya placed a prepared check in front of him. "I need you to disclose Shen Yunsheng's schedule." Knowing his schedule would make it easy to stir up trouble.
