C4 They Would Definitely Pay Attention to It
"Doctor, is my dad in any danger? How is he now?"
As soon as the emergency room doors opened, Xinxiao rushed over. Rulan and Siya naturally followed. Just as they were about to speak, the doctor removed his mask and gestured for silence.
"Mr. Pei had a stroke when he arrived at the hospital. Although he's temporarily out of danger, it's crucial to ensure he isn't subjected to any further stress. Another episode could be life-threatening."
"Thank you, thank you. We'll be sure to take care," Siya said urgently, supporting the anxious Rulan. Xinxiao bit her lip, her face slightly pale, but she remained silent.
She had always known that Zhengjun was under immense pressure due to issues with Pei's Group. Otherwise, the proud Zhengjun would never have considered a business marriage to alleviate the company's financial crisis.
Xinxiao never imagined that her argument with Rulan and Siya would trigger his stroke. At that moment, guilt filled her heart. No matter what, the person lying in there was her biological father, and that fact would never change.
As the nurse wheeled the still-unconscious Zhengjun into the VIP room, Xinxiao, Rulan, and Siya followed, each lost in their thoughts.
As soon as she entered the hospital room, Siya blocked Xinxiao in the outer lounge.
"Xinxiao, Dad got sick because of you, so don't pretend to care now!"
"Siya, I don't want to argue. I just want to see Dad."
Xinxiao said helplessly, but Siya refused to move, letting out a cold snort, her smile appearing especially mocking to Xinxiao.
"Oh, now you care about Dad? You seemed pretty bold yelling at him back home."
"Exactly, Xinxiao, you know Dad's been stressed about the company and not feeling well, yet you still argued with him. Were you trying to get him hospitalized?"
Rulan chimed in as she emerged from the room, adding her own reproach. Xinxiao looked at the mother and daughter in confusion.
Clearly, they were the ones stirring trouble, yet they acted as if they had done nothing wrong, shifting all the blame onto her.
Xinxiao realized more than ever that any kindness from Rulan and Siya was just an act. Even her brother's disappearance couldn't be entirely separated from them.
"Aunt Lan, Siya, since you're bringing it up, let me be clear with you! I might not know everything about my brother's disappearance, but I have a pretty good idea. Aunt Lan, aren't you just worried that my brother would compete with Zimo for the family business? Is that why you pushed him out of the family?"
Zheng Rulan looked a bit uncomfortable, but before she could speak, Zheng Siya jumped in.
"So what if that's true? Do you have any proof that my mom was involved in Pei Zijin's disappearance? Without evidence, we could sue you for defamation anytime!"
"Siya, we're all family. Why speak to your sister like that?"
Zheng Rulan, feeling a bit guilty, pretended to pull Siya's arm gently. Siya snorted, crossing her arms defiantly.
"Xinxiao, you have no evidence for your claims, but it's a fact that Dad had a stroke because of you!"
"What? Dad ended up in the hospital because of my sister?"
Pei Zimo, who had just rushed into the VIP hospital room, overheard Siya's comment and immediately glared at Xinxiao with accusation in his eyes.
