C18 The Conspiracy Was Revealed
Although Ondine's face bore a smile, her words were spoken through clenched teeth.
"As for that wretched Ilyana, I may not know what's going on with her, but even if she shows up, I have a way to handle her. She'll regret coming here today!"
Upon hearing this, Ines's anxiety eased. She joyfully linked arms with Ondine and asked playfully,
"Mom, how do you plan to deal with that stinky girl?"
Ondine affectionately patted the back of her daughter's hand, her smile unwavering, "Well, I'll call Calen over to take care of it!"
"Mom, are you thinking of... Could it possibly..."
Ondine nodded, her lips curling into a confident, knowing smile.
"Not at all! Calen is decisive and thorough, and he's never slipped up. I trust him completely with this matter!"
Ines clapped her hands in delight. As she gazed at Ilyana, who was navigating the crowd with a smile, a glint of malice flashed in her eyes.
"That's perfect. I refuse to believe that Ilyana can slip through our fingers this time!"
"Shh! Make sure no one overhears us!"
Ondine glanced around cautiously, ensuring they were alone, and then warned Ines with concern, "Remember, you mustn't let your father find out about this! And don't you get involved, understood?"
Ines felt a chill run down her spine as if her thoughts had been laid bare.
Eager to alleviate Ondine's worries, she nodded and hastily assured her, "Mom! Don't worry, I'm your daughter. Can't you trust me?"
Ondine laughed, realizing her tone had been harsh, and quickly soothed her, "You're my daughter, and I trust you unconditionally! I'm just worried about you acting on impulse, that's all."
"Mom, rest assured! I'm not foolish enough to wade into these troubled waters!"
"Good to hear!"
They continued their conversation as they walked away, oblivious to the man by the men's washbasin. Little did they know, he had overheard every word of their private exchange.
Watching their retreating figures sway, the man hidden in the restroom revealed a sly grin.
Fascinating!
It seems that visiting the Munro family today was truly worthwhile!
One dramatic scene after another – it’s been incredibly thrilling!
“Young Master, what are you watching? Did you recognize those two women just now?” Brannon had just come out when he noticed the man intently watching the backs of two women.
What was even more astonishing was that he actually laughed again.
Yet, this laugh was different from the previous one; it was laced with a chilling murderous intent, and his aura was so cold it made people instinctively want to distance themselves.
“I don’t know them!”
The man replied with an icy tone and turned to stride forward.
“Then why were you staring at their backs? If we get caught, it won’t be easy to explain! If it gets out that the esteemed Joseph family…”
Catching the man’s cautionary look, the speaker nervously swallowed, unable to finish his sentence.
“I’m well aware of what I’m doing. Don’t pry into affairs that don’t concern you!”
“Yes, sir!”
Brannon felt the oppressive atmosphere stifling him, and though he was seething with anger, he knew better than to provoke further. Yet, he felt compelled to offer a reminder.
“Should we pay a visit to Old Madame Munro now?”
