C7 CHAPTER 7

Rachel took to heart the painful message she received from Brett so she thought of calling Jennifer and Francis to go swimming with them. Because Jennifer was too joking, Rachel temporarily forgot about Brett’s message.

“Hey, do you have a problem?” Earlier Jennifer noticed that Rachel was often staring into the distance.

“Why do you ask? I’m okay, “she lied.

“What’s okay? You always look away and then you just sigh, “Jennifer didn't believe what Rachel said and she asked Francis for help because she knew that one of their friends had gone through something.

“I also pay attention. All right, sis, tell us why you suddenly want us to come here.”

“I really don't have a problem, I'm just bored.” Rachel kept lying because she couldn’t reveal to friends the real reason why she badtrip.

“Liar. Don’t tell me you saw them together too?” What Jennifer was referring tow was none other than Brett and his girlfriend named Bettina.

“What do you mean? Who is together?” Rachel felt that her two friends were hiding something and her suspicion intensified when she saw the two looking at each other. “What now?”

“Brett and his girlfriend, I and Francis saw them together. You do not know?” Jennifer turned pale when she saw tears well up in the corners of Rachel's eyes and suddenly burst into tears.

Francis scolded Jennifer when Rachel started crying. “Rachel, calm down! Maggie might even scold us, “Francis was worried that Rachel's nanny might assume that they had fought with Rachel.

Rachel wiped away her tears and adjusted herself a few minutes later. She felt a little relieved after she cried. It's been a few days since he took care of the pain caused by Brett's infidelity, but was he really betrayed eh they don't have a relationship? “Something happened to Brett and me,” she admitted to friends.

“What?” Francis and Jennifer asked at the same time.

“So how does it feel to have achieved your crush?” Francis asked jokingly and Jennifer immediately scolded him.

“What should it be? Don't you notice I'm sad? You can assume it for nothing!” Gradually, Rachel returned to her former self. She could fight even if it hurts.

“Don't assume, just think and at least you tasted him!” Francis added and Jennifer laughed out loud.

“It's really your flirtation,” she told Francis.

“Is he huge or gifted down there?” he asked Rachel but when she stared at him, she didn't need to speak anymore because her suspicion that the man was gifted seemed correct.

They continued to tease and after Rachel got into the hotseat, Jennifer and Francis followed as well. The three of them are really like that, the peg is in touch. But their happy story was shattered when Maggie suddenly cried out. The three of them ran into the house and they caught it watching television.

“Rachel! Your father, Rachel!” Maggie gasped as her eyes were still focused on the news being watched.

Rachel wondered why Maggie suddenly mentioned her father even though he was still on a business trip. “Why? What happened to Daddy? Did he call earlier and look for me?”

“Your father was injured!”

“Injured? How did he get injured?” Shee didn't believe what his nanny said because it seemed very impossible.

“The plane exploded,” Maggie replied.

Explode? She wanted to tease Maggie because he was confused but he was not given a chance because of the flash report seen on TV which mentioned about the plane that exploded and also released the list of passengers on board. “No! Daddy isn't dead yet! That's not true!” Rachel angrily slammed their television. Gradually his strength was exhausted and he fell to the floor. The last he heard was the screams of his two friends.

When Rachel woke up, the faces of Jennifer and Francis were the first she saw. There is a trace of worry on the faces of the two and like him, they are also sad. She restrained herself from crying again but her tears flowed spontaneously. She didn’t want to accept to herself that her Daddy was gone, that it had possibly survived the explosion. “Everything is just a dream isn't it? I just had a bad dream?” She wanted to hear from two friends that he was just having nightmares but when Jennifer started crying, Francis followed too. The three of them cried as they hugged.

“We won't leave you, dear.” Francis promised as he wiped away his own tears.

“Francis is right, Rachel. We're just here, please calm down, okay?” Jennifer advised the friend to be firm.

“Thank you so much for both of you, without you, I don't know what would have happened to me.” Rachel said in a hoarse voice.

“If we weren't here today, Maggie would probably be with you.” Francis replied.

“She will be,” Jennifer said.

Rachel was thankful that Francis and Jennifer didn’t leave her. They accompanied her to mourn the loss of her father and she thanked the presence of the two because without them, she might have gone completely crazy especially and Brett still did not contact her. The only ones she relied on were his friends, her nanny and her godfather, the lawyer, who would take care of everything after the news about the plane crash where his father was on board.

If only the two friends could stay at home, that's why it's not possible. Jen and Francis were sent home by their parents and Rachel was left alone. When the two returned home, it was only then that he felt how empty his life was without his father. Each day that passed, she missed it even more but no matter how much more crying she did, no matter how many tears came out of her eyes, her Daddy would never come back.

“Rachel, do you want me to cook your favorite snacks?” Earlier she had searched for it because since morning she had not eaten and she was already worried for its health.

“I don't feel like it, Maggie.” Rachel replied.

“You always have no appetite! You're losing weight!” Maggie's voice rose slightly because she didn't like Rachel's behavior anymore as if it was the end of her world.

“I don't care if I die today!” Rachel cried.

“Rachel, what happened to you? If only Brett was here, I know he knows how to calm you down.” It never occurred to Maggie to mention the man’s name. It was not hidden from her knowledge that about what happened to the woman and Brett.

“Hmmmp! I wish a truck would hit them!” Rachel said angrily and that was about Brett and his seemingly ignorant girlfriend.

“Rachel!” Maggie was surprised by what her pet said because it was naturally kind. “You take care of your life, if you don't want to eat, I'd better just leave, I'm totally useless in your life!” Maggie sighed and turned away.
