C5 The contract

“Hi sister Catherine” Alex called after coming out of the room. There was a tiny smile of satisfaction on his face.

Sister Catherine sat up and adjusted her glasses, “Did she accept the offer?” She asked in curiosity.

Alex dropped on the chair opposite her, “Yes she did, she would start working as soon as possible. And according to the agreement I made with her, I would be leaving the orphanage home. I won't be bringing it down”

Sister Catherine's eyes went wide in shock, “are you serious?”

“Yes sister, I am serious. She is going to sign the contract, and I'll hand over the documents,” Alex explained.

She could not believe it. Olivia had just helped the orphanage home. They won't be sent away. This was one of the headaches she has been having for a while now. They all owed Olivia for this. She was curious about the kind of contract they signed, but she did not ask him.

A split grin broke out on her face and she stood up and gave Alex a low bow, “thank you so much sir”.

“You should thank Olivia. We have discussed all the terms and conditions, and she is willing. And by Tomorrow I will get the documents ready for her to sign.” He explained before he stood up to leave.

Olivia POV

After Alex left, my sister Catherine came to my room and met me lying down on the bed.

“What kind of contract did you sign with Alex? He was speaking about signing something”. Even if sister Catherine would do everything possible to retain the orphanage, she would never sell any of the kids out. She wanted to know everything and be sure that Olivia was not forced into anything.

“It's just for me to work with him. I would be his secretary when I don't have classes," I whispered to her. I hate the fact that I was lying, but I could tell her. She would stop me from going and we would lose the orphanage home.

“Are you doing this because you want to or because you want to save the orphanage?” she asked in a calm tone.

"No ma'am, you once advised me that I should think about my future, secure a good job and live independently, so I can be able to help other kids. This is the opportunity. I would be the one to lose if I should turn it down. It's a win for us. I work for him, and we get to keep our home” I said, resting my head on her shoulder.

“Can you live outside the orphanage? You have never left here before” she said, and I could detect the worry in her voice. It warmed my heart. She was a wonderful mother to all the children here.

“I can do it, sister,” I said, assuring her.

“Sweetheart, remember this is your home and the door is always open to you” she said and stood up and was about to leave but paused and turned to me, “Olivia, do what your heart says, don't think of others, your happiness matters.”

I sat up on my bed and held her hands, “sister, this is what I want, this is an opportunity to pay you back. You have been a mother to me ever since I stepped foot here” I said, assuring her once more.

"I have seen many kids grow and leave, but you are special to me and to this orphanage. You always think of others first, and I pray may the good Lord guide you, give you happiness and a bright future” she prayed.

" Amen". I stood up and gave her a hug as I tried to control my tears.

It was right in the morning when Alex and Lucas arrived to pick me up. Alex looked smug as I carried my little belongings to his car.

"Here are the documents, you should sign them,” he said, handing some files to me after I bade sister Catherine and all the other kids goodbye and got into the car.

Before my hands could grab the documents, he took them back and cleared his throat, “I want to explain the contract to you in detail. This is an agreement to give me your body for pleasure. It means if you sign these contracts you are giving up the rights you have on your body, I own you. In return, I will give you the site and 50 million.” He had a serious look in his eyes, but that smug smile was still on his face.

It was as if he were happy that he had finally gotten me where he wanted. I felt hatred boil in my heart, and all I wanted to do was lean over and slap the smug smile off his face.

“I will respect you, I will never treat you like a slave or servant and I will not hurt you” he explained in a calm tone.

I scoffed, “you won't treat me like your servant, indeed. Why me anyway? Are there not some other girls out there who are better and more beautiful than I am?” asked in a calm tone, looking into his eyes.

“Honestly, I like your innocence. I can decide to have any girl I want, but it's you I desire. You should be grateful”.

The last words made my hatred for him increase. “What do you expect from me? I asked.

"You would follow me anywhere I want to go. I would like to come back home after a long day of stress and meet you at home” he said.

I rolled my eyes at his words. He was making it sound like I was going to be his wife, “I have nothing to say, rules are rules and I will obey” I snapped.

“You will always obey my rules,” he added in a dominating tone.

“Hmmm. I will do my best, but I want you to promise me one thing” I requested.

“And what is it?”

“Please protect this orphanage today, tomorrow, forever. It should forever remain a home to the poor and homeless kids'' I said in a pleading tone.

“After signing this contract, I will give you my word,” he said as he handed tr documents to me

"Thank you, now give me a pen” I said in determination.

I signed the contract and I murmured to myself, “I can now save the orphanage.”

“Great”. He whispered.

" You don't need those clothes you packed with you. I would be taking you shopping to get new things”.

I just nodded and turned to look out of the car window. Likewise, I have no choice in the matter anymore. My life and body was now his. This was not how I planned my life, but if it meant that I could save the orphanage, I would do it without complaint.
