C4 Escape from this hell

The fact that Orion hadn’t known about Lucian killing my pack. That he had been at his job and not home.

I thought about him helping me when I had awoken in pain. About how he had sat with me, told me about his family.

He seemed kind, at least compared to his brother. Maybe I could use that to get out of this nightmare. Maybe he would help me, even if Lucian didn’t want him to.

I walked out of the bathroom, looking at the door again. It was still locked, but there was a tray of food sitting on the table.

I went to it, finding eggs, toast, and bacon. I ate everything, washing it down with a cup of tea. I felt better now, a little more awake.

I heard a key in the door and turned to find Orion standing there, smiling at me.

“How are you feeling, princess?” he asked, shutting the door behind him.

“Better,” I said, sitting back on the bed. “Thank you for bringing me food.”

“No problem,” he said. He came over and sat down, looking at me over. “Do you need anything else? Lucian said you were okay. I told him to bring your dinner up.”

I thought about his question, trying to think of something I needed that would allow me to leave. But I was out of ideas.

“I’m fine,” I finally said, shrugging.

Orion nodded, standing. “Let me get you something to drink. I’ll bring you a book or something, too. If you need anything, just yell out.”

I nodded and watched him go back to the door, unlocking it and heading out. I heard it lock again and sighed.

I looked around the room, trying to come up with something. But there was nothing. I was trapped here, and there was no way out.

And then I remembered what Orion had told me. That Lucian’s house was built on an old pack house. There was an underground bunker where he kept weapons.

Orion came back with a glass of lemonade. I thanked him again and took both, watching him as he sat back on the edge of the bed.

His eyes roamed over me, taking in the clothes that fit loosely. “Why do you still look so pretty?” he asked.

I blinked, looking away. “It’s just how I am.”

“Lucian doesn’t deserve you,” Orion said. “You know that?”

I looked back at him, frowning. “He’s your brother.”

“Yes,” Orion said, running a hand over his head. “He’s my brother. He’s the Alpha of our pack. But he doesn’t deserve someone like you.”

“I can’t leave,” I said.

Orion sighed and leaned forward, his elbows on his knees. “No, you can’t. At least not now.”

I chewed my lip, looking at him. He seemed to be staring at me like he could see right through me.

“Why are you being nice to me?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.

“I’m not always nice,” he said, laughing. “I can be a monster just like him. I just think about things more. I think about the things he’s done and what kind of man it’s turned him into.”

I frowned again, not understanding. “And what does that have to do with me?”

“He’s claimed you,” Orion said, shaking his head. “It’s different now. He won’t let you go, and I don’t know if I can get you out. I don’t know where to send you.”

I chewed on my lip, thinking. “Do you think I could talk to him?”

Orion raised a brow. “You want to talk to Lucian?”

“Yes,” I said. “Maybe if I talk to him, I can get him to listen to me.”

Orion laughed again. “Lucian isn’t the type of man to listen. He takes what he wants, and he’s not giving you up. Not after you gave in to him.”

I frowned. “Gave in? How?”

“By submitting to him,” Orion said, standing. “Once you do that, you belong to him. And I’m sure that once he has your heart, he’ll take that too.”

I swallowed hard. “Maybe I can use that to convince him to let me leave.”

Orion shook his head. “Good luck with that.” He moved towards the door.

I looked down at the glass of lemonade he had brought me. The same kind he had gotten the night before. The same stuff I had drugged.

I looked up at him and stood, crossing the room to follow. “Orion,” I said.

He paused at the door, his back to me. “What?”

“Can I have the rest of my lemonade?” I asked.

He looked over his shoulder, his gaze narrowing. “Are you sick?”

I shook my head. “No. I just can’t seem to get hydrated today.”

He grunted. “I’ll bring you more. Just be careful, Seraphina.”

He left, the sound of the lock clicking behind him. I moved to the window, looking out into the darkness again.

I knew where the bunker was now. And I knew that with Orion on my side, I would have a much better chance of escaping.

So maybe it was time to try and break free. Maybe it was time to escape this hell. To save my own life before it was too late.

Because as soon as Lucian found out about the drugging, he would kill me. And I had to assume that Orion would too.

So it was time. I would break free and get out of here, no matter how hard I had to try. Even if it meant risking death.

Because at this point, I had nothing else left to lose. Nothing but my own life.

And that was something I was willing to bet on. I would bet on my own survival, no matter what the cost.

I would bet that I could escape this hellhole. That I could outrun the Alpha and his twin brother, escape this nightmare.
