C5 I will Take Full Responsibility

As Katie's eyes locked onto the man, she was captivated by his handsome features: the depth of his peach blossom eyes, the proud arch of his nose, and the sensuality of his lips evoked a sense of déjà vu.

"Get out," Jabe ordered, his tone icy as he focused on Lulu, blatantly ignoring Katie.

Katie pursed her lips and clung to the car's handrail, defiantly stating, "I'm not leaving! I might as well be blind. Go ahead, I didn't see anything."

She dreaded the thought of being chased off and couldn't shake the feeling that she was cursed. How else could she explain the relentless series of mishaps? Losing her job, being misunderstood, chased, and now stumbling upon lovers – she rubbed her temples in silent mourning. Could her luck get any worse?

"Jabe..." Lulu's voice trembled, biting her lip in protest yet clearly intimidated by the possibility of angering him. After a glare at Katie and a quick recognition, she jerked her skirt back into place.

Lulu flung open the car door and stepped out, slamming it shut with a mix of defiance and resignation.

"Why did she leave?" Katie wondered out loud, confused as she saw the leading lady exit.

Wasn't she the one who was supposed to get out? Why had someone else left instead?

"Well, I should probably leave too," Katie said, her voice tinged with mock brightness as she turned her head, her smile widening. Yet, her tight grip on the handrail revealed her true reluctance to leave.

The car inched forward as the men behind them continued their chase, determined to catch her.

Jabe squinted through the rearview mirror, taking in the sight of the pursuers and Katie's disheveled appearance, reeking of alcohol. What truly caught his attention, though, was her delicate face.

"Is it you?" Jabe's brow creased as he extended his arm, capturing Katie's wrist and yanking her in front of him with a firm call.

"Ah, what do you mean 'me'?"

"Thirteenth Brother!" he stated solemnly.

"Thirteenth Brother? I don't know him. But Schwarzenegger? Now that's a name I've heard," Katie blurted out, her panic nearly causing her to forget the nickname entirely.

With her hand secured in his, her inner struggle came to a halt. She lifted her head to meet his gaze, his flawless features coming into focus, a slight smile on his lips. And most strikingly, her high heels were now conspicuously beside him.

"Ah... I'm sorry, ah." Katie was just trying to retrieve her high heels when Volney slammed on the brakes. She pitched forward, her foot shooting out reflexively!

"Hiss..."

"Ah..."

Suddenly, the car was filled with sounds reminiscent of pigs being slaughtered! The woman was petrified, and the man let out a pained groan.

Katie hadn't expected her foot to land on such a sensitive area. She couldn't even begin to imagine the pain he was in.

Her eyes widened as she saw him clutching his lower half, a troubling thought crossing her mind—this couldn't possibly affect his... sex life, could it?

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. You're... not damaged, are you?" She pointed towards his crotch, tentatively reaching out with her left hand, then quickly retracting her foot as if nothing had happened.

She had never intended to hurt a man.

"Hiss..." The man held his lower body, his face turning an ashen blue, his expression twisted in agony.

Volney watched everything, barely containing his laughter. He looked worriedly at his boss, then at the oblivious woman beside him.

"Does it hurt a lot? Do you need... someone to check if it's broken?" She was panicked, scrambling for a solution.

"Check it?" Jabe's deep, magnetic voice cut through the tension. A smirk flickered across his face, his expression lightening considerably.

He gazed at her familiar face, pondering her background. Every time he saw her, she was being chased. What was her deal?

Just the night before at the restaurant, she had clung to him, calling him Brother Thirteen. And now she had jumped into his car for a wild getaway?

"Uh... never mind what I said! You look alright now." Katie muttered, wringing her hands as she took in the man before her, who sat with an air of unruffled ease, not at all like someone who had just been injured.

His hands, defined and strong, took hold of her wrist in what should have been a threatening move, yet it felt strangely enticing.

"How do you know I'm alright?" Jabe reached out, gently turning her face toward him. His lips curled into a mischievous smile as he drew closer, his handsome face becoming ever more prominent in her view.

This woman was definitely missing a beat.

Katie bit her lip and widened her eyes, wanting to dismiss the whole episode. Yet, she couldn't shake off the worry: had her kick turned him into the last eunuch in Usmyae? It was common knowledge that men's parts were sensitive and not to be trifled with.

"I..." Katie's hands trembled slightly, the heat from his skin sending her heart into an erratic dance. Words failed her.

"Cough... What I mean is, it won't cause any harm." She tried to explain, fearing he was searching for a pretext to trouble her.

In this day and age, too many unscrupulous individuals are on the prowl, ready to exploit any situation for financial gain, like feigning injury after a fall to extort money.

"Do you really want to see if it's damaged?" Jabe's face was a study in vexation as he reached out, pulling her into his embrace, his cool fingertips grazing her chin.

"I... I think it's probably okay," Katie finally found her voice, though her hands were slick with nervous sweat. She carefully unwound his fingers from her chin, one by one.

Volney drove on, his face a mask of professionalism, though he was clearly holding back laughter. It was obvious his boss was toying with this unsuspecting girl.

"Guess?" Her tone was tinged with doubt. His intense stare and silent posture overwhelmed Katie.

The handsome man was silent. What should she do?

"Don't be upset, it's really alright," Katie reassured him, poking his chest lightly with her index finger.

Such a handsome man, so seemingly delicate?

Was all this drama really necessary over something so trivial? Katie fidgeted in her seat, whipped out her phone, and turned to Baidu for answers.

Jabe caught the change in the car's atmosphere and looked over at her. The soft yellow light cast her exquisite profile in a beautiful glow. His dark eyes sparkled as they landed on the text displayed on her phone screen.

His face was suddenly lined with irritation – she had actually believed him.

"Um..." Katie gathered her thoughts, striving to keep her voice even. She turned to face his deep eyes, momentarily caught off guard before regaining her composure.

She wasn't one for celebrity rumors or financial news, and had little interest in the corporate world, so Jabe was an enigma to her. But she had heard a thing or two about the Russell Family.

"Hmm, want to try it out?" Jabe raised an eyebrow, observing her serious expression and the flicker of curiosity in her eyes. What conclusion had she come to?

"Give it a try? Heh heh... Haha... Give it a try!" Katie said calmly, her voice belying the cold sweat that drenched her. Indeed, she thought, men are all the same—no good at all.
