C2 Production Invitation!
On the other side.
Qu Zhenzhen ran all the way home, collapsing onto her bed without even taking off her shoes. The tears she had been holding back for so long finally burst forth.
Her time in the entertainment industry hadn't been particularly long or short, but her unique principles and way of doing things set her apart from the typical artist. Because of this, she couldn't rely solely on her natural talents to climb the ranks.
As she let out her pent-up frustration, she didn't notice that she had left her files at the office. Suddenly, the sound of a new text message alert caught her attention. Picking up her phone, she almost fell off the bed in shock.
An audition invitation from Ruocan Media? The most renowned media company in the city, if not the whole country! Was she really seeing this right?
The audition was scheduled for the next morning, and Zhenzhen was too excited to sleep, spending the entire night in a state of anticipation. But when she arrived at Ruocan, she was hit with a harsh reality.
“A crying scene?”
Her smile was more of a grimace as she asked the interviewer, “Can I try something else?”
Apparently, they weren't used to candidates being so picky at Ruocan. The interviewer replied coldly, “If you don't want to try, you can leave.”
Why did every role require a crying scene? Why did every audition test her ability to cry? And why could she never seem to pull it off?
Zhenzhen knew that the incident of her throwing a fit at her previous company would soon spread. Before that happened, it was crucial to secure a stable job for as long as possible. If she couldn't, she'd be stuck as a third-rate actress, or worse, pushed out of the industry entirely...
The more she thought about it, the more upset she became, and her eyes reddened with tears. The thought of losing her job and struggling to make ends meet, maybe even washing dishes at a restaurant, was too much to bear...
Zhenzhen cried, and this time it was more genuine than ever.
She was naturally beautiful, and her tears only added to her allure, making her look even more vulnerable and touching. The interviewer was taken aback, not expecting her to break down so suddenly.
Aside from crying scenes, auditions were a breeze for Qu Zhenzhen. Once the results were out, Ruocan had already decided to hire her without hesitation.
"Your expressions and movements are so natural. You'll be perfect for roles that require innocence," the manager said, looking at her like she was a hidden gem. He immediately set up a contract and added with a smile, "I'll go tell the CEO right away. He'll be thrilled to hear this."
"Thrilled?" Zhenzhen was puzzled.
"Huh? You didn't know?" The manager looked her over a few times, realizing she genuinely had no clue. "You were personally recommended by our CEO."
Recommended by the CEO? She couldn't recall any connection with anyone high up at Ruocan, so she decided not to dwell on it. She figured she could ask the CEO directly when they met.
Feeling great about landing the job, Zhenzhen decided to treat herself to lunch at her favorite restaurant. But as soon as she walked in, she was overwhelmed by roses and pink balloons everywhere.
"Wanxin, I love you! Will you be my girlfriend?" A man was on one knee on the restaurant's small stage, a rose in his mouth, while the woman in front of him looked completely taken aback, clearly caught off guard by the unexpected proposal.
Zhenzhen lowered her sunglasses, watching with interest. She noticed the woman didn't look thrilled; instead, she seemed flustered, unwilling, and even a bit resistant.
Could it be she wasn't interested?
Sensing Zhenzhen's gaze, the woman turned her head, and their eyes met. Zhenzhen immediately recognized a plea for help in her eyes.
Being in the acting world, Zhenzhen couldn't resist stepping into the scene. She put on her sunglasses, walked over, and casually wrapped an arm around the woman's shoulder, pretending to plant a light kiss on her forehead.
"What's this? Trying to win over my girlfriend?"
Qu Zhenzhen's lips curled into a slight, charmingly mischievous smile that was hard to dislike. "You might want to check with me first."
The woman beside her seemed surprised by the rescue but quickly caught on, wrapping her arms around Zhenzhen and whispering, "I'm scared."
"You, you two!"
The suitor was so startled he nearly dropped his bouquet of roses. "What's going on here? Who are you to Wanxin?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Zhenzhen raised an eyebrow. "I'm her girlfriend, and she's mine."
The crowd around them collectively gasped. After all, seeing two strikingly beautiful women together was a sight to behold, and the unexpected revelation only fueled their curiosity.
"Wanxin, you mean you are..."
The suitor looked crestfallen. "Why didn't you ever tell me? Well, I guess all I can do is wish you both happiness."
"Thank you," Xia Wanxin replied with a polite, reserved smile.
Once the suitor left, having confirmed there was no hope, Wanxin straightened up from Zhenzhen's embrace, her cheeks slightly flushed. "I'm sorry, I didn't expect you to actually help me out. Thank you so much."
"No problem," Zhenzhen replied with a smile. "Aren't you worried he might have someone watching? How about you treat me to lunch, and I'll stick around a bit longer?"
Wanxin appreciated straightforward people and readily agreed. As the saying goes, "Great minds think alike." The two found they shared similar interests and soon found themselves engrossed in a conversation about acting.
"I didn't realize you were in the industry too. No wonder you seemed familiar."
After Xia Wanxin spoke, she quickly added, "I didn't mean it like that. It's just that we haven't worked together before."
"Yeah, I'm just a third-rate actress, after all," Qu Zhenzhen replied smoothly, without a hint of anger.
"But with the level of acting you just showed, you shouldn't be considered third-rate at all," Wanxin said, her eyes suddenly lighting up with seriousness. "Zhenzhen, I truly see you as a friend. Would you be willing to meet someone with me?"
When Qu Zhenzhen found herself standing in the top-floor executive office of Ruocan Media with Xia Wanxin, she was taken aback by the man in front of her. She almost blurted out, "Wow."
This strikingly handsome man was the same one she'd bumped into at the company entrance the day she was let go. And now, the person who had introduced himself as the CEO of Ruocan Media, her ultimate boss, was him!
